Recommend an insulation product for me
Just thinking about a couple winter projects, and I have the SOT Roots kit with the air intake right next to the header in the stock battery location. I do not want to wrap the header for fear of breakage, and am leaning toward keeping it another season before selling so thermal coating the header is more wrnching than I want to do.
Essentially I want to have a couple inch barrier of some kind of insulation between the header and the small "airbox" where the battery used to be. A solid product that might be able to be cut to fit and make kind of a wall between the header and filter, or something I could kind of wad and stuff might be ok even if ugly. I want something that will not catch fire obviously, and is not too expensive. Although I have the Mugen header, I still have a slightly modified stock heat shield in place. If there is a DIY spray on product that might be interesting before adding some insulation on top of that.
Since getting the heat shield off requires pulling the whole sc unit and some other things do to the tight nature, I am trying to avoid it out of sheer laziness. Just something to deflect the heat from the header back toward the header, as I try a couple methods to direct some cooler air at the filter.
Suggestions with product links much appreciated.
