Default Reliability/Requirment Question

Hi everyone! im a newbie lol. Ive done some reseach and I cant seem to find a kit that suits my s2000. A gt30r setup is what I would love to have in my S. Things you should know its my daily driver, 52,000 miles and is completely stock. What exactly would I need before I turbo it? What would you reccomend if you think a gt30r isnt safe for my s (need the car for 5 years+)? HELP!

thanks, brandon

The mase kit looks really nice! 400+ on a stock motor! I only found a right hand drive version tho? is it safe for daily driving?

you need the car for 5 more years? if this is your only car... Think again about putting a turbo on it. Theres a HIGH chance that something will go wrong somewhere on the car at some time and you won't have a car for weeks. do some research on all the turbo'd guys out here.

No one just slaps on a turbo kit on a stock s2k and is "fine" for 5 years. infact probably not even 5 months until something goes wrong somewhere

im not expecting to have absolutley no problems! just nothing freaking major! like a blown engine or something! lol.

I researched the greddy kit and it looks really reliable but the turbo is so dang tiny lol. I want something that will get me on the borderline of 400whp.

trust me bro, 400hp is gonna come with risks when the car stock has 200hp. your doubling the amount of power this car has. expect a few things to go wrong, differential... heating issues... melting issues, possibly a blown stock Cat.

Ever since i got my turbo set-up completed, i've had nothing but issues over this summer, from heat manifold issues to putting a turbo blanket on because my wastegate had a partial melt-down and then i blew my differential. Doubling the car's hp comes with a risk.

Honestly ..... the safest and most reliable way to go with our cars BOOSTED... would be with either a comptech supercharger or a Vortech supercharger with stock boost.

I'm telling you this from experience because i used to have a comptech supercharger before i put a turbo on. (addictions sucks) but a supercharger is literally the most reliable form of FI that this car could have.

yeah man I feel you. Ive been in a sc'd s2000 and it was nice but i just want a bit more from it is all. I mean im willing to buy any parts needed to make it as safe as possible before i actually do the turbo setup. Check your pms i have some other questions =).

You just need to figure out what works for you. You say you need your car for 5+ years and you want 400whp. Over that timeframe, more than likely one of those things will have to give. If you are willing to accept the chances that your car will go down for an extended period of time during that period, then go for it. If you can't do without it for any amount of time, then FI is probably not a safe bet. Or like others mentioned, you can go supercharger with a lower boost level for higher reliability.....but even then, anything beyond a stock setup comes with increased risk.
