Talking Reliable 400whp in South Florida... Possible?

After mulling around about what new car to get, I put down the cash and am waiting to take delivery of my 2006 S2K.

Now, I've read the posts about forced induction. Because I need reliability and will dive this car to work daily, I am choosing an S/C setup. Now, what I haven't found is what header and exhaust to match up with the S/C and could use some advice on this. Also, I live in Naples where it is beyond hot and humid so are there other plug and play upgrades to help manage heat like oil coolers, etc that I should look into which will not interfere with the S/C? I have planned to get a body kit with a well ducted bumper along with a vented hood, so I will be able to keep air moving through the engine compartment. Just curious as to what else will help.

Also I read in one to the posts about a S/C bringing the real wheel hp up close to 400. Is this a serious/realistic number and is it safe in the hot Florida sun?

My purpose for the car is not so much the horse power but just fun driving in a quck, responsive machine. But if you've ever been to Naples, you'd think that BMW M3's and Porche Boxters grow on trees and most of these spoiled trust fund brats haven't got a clue as to how to drive them. It would just be nice to have the power to beat them in a sprint out of a toll booth after they deliberately cut me off thinking that they have the right of way due to the the price tag of their car. I tend to think sometimes less is more.... Less MSRP, more POWER (with a few add ons under the hood)

Please post your comments and thanks for having such a nice forum for me to review. I think I'm gonna like this site.

Yes you can do it and I live in Orlando,
Welcome to the boards and good luck with your project, I say break in your motor and stay NA for a bit and enjoy the reliability for awhile - With those kind of numbers you are looking for a bit of work

oh yeah, I have a custom 3" header back exhaust with a Comptech header

Nice Setup. What kind of mileage would you recommend me turning on the odometer before going to FI? Would it be safe to go ahead and install the exhaust? I was considering getting a cold air intake more for looks under the hood until I installed the SC anyway. The poor honda stocker looks so barren after you've seen what kind of beast it can be converted into.

Orlando. That's good to know. Last time I was there it took me 40 minutes to travel 7 miles south on 436 in the middle of the summer. If your car is handling it, then I should be fine because Naples rarely experiences that kind of gridlock.

Thanks for your post as well. Next time I'm up towards Disney, I'll post you my route. I'd like to see your car and the goodie-mods, wrench talk, etc...

Post in the Florida forum and the south Florida forum, I am sure some of the other local guys will chime in - you have some members in your area that are F/I and they can really help you in your research!

You will have alot of Turbo guys telling you it is better than S/C - You just have to figure out what you want your car to do

Ztec, Can you direct me to the Florida forum? I'm really pathetic with this whole forum thing which is sad because I'm a software developer which gives me absolutely no excuse.

I'm pretty much decided on S/C. Because I will be doing a bit of traveling to the east coast across Alligatior Alley, I dont want to be running the car in boost at 80 to 85mph which is what traffic normally travels at across the alley... But I'll still at least listen to their comments.

Thanks for your help!

I hav e been working on this decission myself for sometime now, and have decided to go turbo (lovefab GT1 kit). You will be in boost on the highway at 85 (ecspecialy if you put some 4.57s in the rear) with a S/C, but if you go turbo you can cruise on the highway in vacume (no boost).

Man your Turbo guys are pesky, LOL! The real problem for me is the tuning issue. I dont want to have to tinker and tune a daily driven car. To be honest, I dont know squat about tuning a car hence 'Get-R-Done' by a local shop for the S/C and be as trouble free as possible. But if any of you know of a turbo setup that will be as reliable as the S/C, then tell what I need to get.

BTW, I have a good dealership hookup on new S2000s. If your in the market, I can forward you my contact.

Thanks!
