The cross member has been an eye sore for some time. Now w/my sidewinder manifold, it makes it even more of a pita to run the oil drain and just looks awful.

Not to mention, w/the luck I've been having w/the motor lately, it makes it alot easier to take in/out, lol.

I'd like to go with a piece of round tube stock, or something similar? Did you all just cut it out and grind it down, then weld it back in, or add plates to the sides, then weld it back?

I've got the motor out, and figure over the next week I can work on this before I drop it back in.

Thoughts/ideas/etc.

I will do this in a few months, thought about it and decided to go with two chrome moly pipes/tubes.
Will look cool and do the job I think.

Why not just angle the member down to the middle and cut it in half and weld a flat plat on top to make it smooth. does that make sense??

Yea, I thought about piping for left over cages.

Does anyone here have anything like that laying around, and some square plating?

I'd put some $$ down for it.

I used 3 sections or roll cage tubing angled downward and flattened on top for a smooth look as mentioned above haha. A properly redone cross member will be tronger than OEM

Teamvalorracing did what you are talking about IIRC, definitely makes it a lot easier to hoist the motor in & out.
