I've got a 255 as well, it'll be running me short on fuel soon no doubt, by wiring it directly you can get a substantial increase in fuel out of it since it was designed to work at higher voltage than it currently is. Generally though the gains aren't insane so probably going to a larger or dual pump is the next move but if someone wanted jut a little more out of or wanted to get rid of the whine sound that commonly works.

Bottom line is it IS a superior and the "proper" way to wire the pump in this case since that's the voltage it was designed for.

I am going to order the parts so that I can do the rewire with a 15amp inline fuse.

If I have the spare time I may do a DIY on this too!
