Ok so that would be something to check then. I thought for sure it was going to be the fmu being bad but seems the be exactly the same with the new one unfortunately.
Must be some sort of wiring or black box related issue it seems. I don't see what would be wrong with the fuel but you never know.

Very well could be the regulator. You can hear the pump running right?

Your best bet will be to get a fuel pressure gauge. They are cheap. You typically will need a 1/8 NPT tap.

Pretty easy to do just be careful how far you drill. The bit needs to be a 'R' size (.3390"). 11/32" is closest fraction. unlike most others, I drilled out the front brass 'thing' so that I could use the bit that is a tiny bit smaller and ream the hole (w/ a reamer) to get the slight NPT angle (not necessary but I am OCD sometimes).

I will look into getting a gauge shortly for the fp. I highly doubt it is the vortech fmu thing. Odds of both being bad and doing the same thing, one being brand new are very slim.
Pump is whining nice and loud back there. I have the soft top tray removed so can hear it very easily!
I hear it whine when I turn on just power. When I turn the whole car on it makes noise but changes a little bit. Probably normal but idk.

Just to clarify, I am talking about the regulator that is on the fuel rail not the FMU.

Did you check the vacuum lines etc.?

Gotta head out, good luck.

Ah ok. Don't know about that.
Vacuum lines all were checked and seem good. My car does idle at low vacuum though.
Idles at like 10 vac. under load down revving is like 14 or so.

this happen to me once but in my case it was a fitting itself was loose on the fmu the one that attaches the vacuum hose. May not be the same case for you.

So I just want to make sure that at idle stationary you can check the fuel pressure to make sure it is rising as boost rises as it would show WOT driving?
