Default S/C + Intake and TB port and polish

Im about to get my vafc and get MY01 S/C'ed dyno tuned, but first im thinking about getting the intake manifold and throttle body ported and polished at a local shop. What do you guys think, will the gains be worth the time and money?

Depends on how much he is charging you. You might want to port and polish the head while your at it . I would guess 30whp+ gains with port and polished head, manifold, and throttle body on FI S. Also should improve throttle response. Should cost you about $2,000-$2,500. I might be off a little. I was thinking about getting that done and having a thicker head gasket put on to slightly lowering the compression for either safer boost at my 9psi or to go up to 10-11psi. I was quoted $2,000 plus throttle body cost.

I recently bought another intake manifold to go with a bored throttle body I've had for ages. Figured I'd match the IM and TB and do some clean up in the runners.

Turns out the IM opening is the same size or larger than the bored TB to start with so nothing to do there. I'll have to measure them to be sure and see what size TB I have.

There's a few burrs int he runners but not much. I suspect a clean up would net me somewhere between zero and zip hp gain. So instead I'm going to have a custom intake made with a bigger plenum. That should do the trick.

I've been told by many tuners that it is not worth it since the stock head and intake mani has good flow as it is.

$450 to get both ported and polished? That seems very cheap.

Sounds good, but it says "Manifold Work Starting At $225". I am going to give them a call today to see what $225 is good for .

The Alaniz work is imho top notch, but there is very little you can do to the stock intake manifold. That work is done to support porting of the head.
