Default s/c spoon engine?

Hi guys, i currently have an s2 with complete spoon engine cams, valves etc. i also have spoon exhaust and ecu and was contemplating a comptech supercharger + a/c and was wondering what sort of performance to expect?

would be grateful if you could shed some light on the subject?

Many thanx

Ben

Well the Comptech kit in stock form on a stock car puts down about 280whp I reckon.
I think your Spoon engine is putting down about 225whp.
Stock is 200whp.
So, you can expect anywhere from 290-310 whp I would assume.
I am not sure how exactly the Spoon internals will work with the SC, but Im sure they wont hurt performance.

BTW - please shed light on your Spoon cams? I was unaware they made some?
Cheers!

Sounds good!

The spoon cams are really good they made a big difference to the torque and feel of the throttle! definitely worth an investment!

am very satisfied with the spoon engine, have a friend with an evo 6 and keep up with him ok, you reckon the s/c will be enough to push past him?

Probably a bad idea with the spoon ECU being the worst choice as far as SC the engine goes. Whythe spoon ecu is targeted for max NA performance, as a result the ECU will lean out the mixture more than a stock ECU. Put a stock SC on with and ECU that's running leaner than the the SC is designed for is a recipe for detonation.

Also you're running at least 0.7 points of higher compression(if it's true spoon). Increasing compresison + FI = recipie for detonation.

Finally at best the cams + FI will have minor performance impact, at worst they will provide a significant performance decrease. The design differences for Max NA power cams and FI cams are significant.

if you want to go FI sell the spoon engine, get a stock one and use the money difference to fund the SC kit.

i take it its the same story for a turbocharger?

Any thing else you recommend to get big whp?

I agree with Crazy above... He's right about it all - I overlooked it.
Youll want a different ECU for the SC, and whats good for NA is not always good for FI.
But you should be able to find a local to swap engines + cash that will buy you the charger.
If you are tied with an Evo6 now, youll own him when SCed.

Am not really keen on swapping the engine!

Is there anyway of keeping the block and changing to 2.2 bottom end aem ecu and different cams with s/c?

would that work?

You could probably retain your cams.
You can buy a 2.2L stroker crank (big bucks). And of course an AEM EMS will always help assuming there is a reputable tuner near you.

Have been looking at the toda 2.2 stroker kit and that increases compression to 12.7 : 1 is that acceptable for FI or too high cos i havent got a clue!!!!
