Which s2000 should i buy
Hi everyone. Let me start off by saying I am in the market for an s2000. I currently have a turbo'd car so I know a little about what I'm gettin into.
Heres what I want. I want an S2000 with 450 WHP on 7 pounds of boost. Ive been lookin at inline pro's gt35 kit and I think thats what I'll go with. Inline pro happens to be about an hour from my house.
My question is, which engine is preferrable for adding boost. Is there an advantage of using 1 motor over the other. Thanks in advanced.

lol you're dreaming and know nothing about what you're getting into with those kind of expectations.
450whp at 7psi... let me check the flow graphs to figure what size turbp you would need to pull that off... i warn you, you won't be able to spoll it without a little n2o assistance.
I would bet the 2.2 would be better as what you are hoping for would require ALOT andther more combustion chamber the better... so 2.2l would appear to be better.
as for the turbo size... just looked at a coupld charts and the GT42 with 53 trim (higher potential than the 56 trim with .60 housing) it will be WAY out of the efficiency and you might touch 450 whp... and definately not anywhere near 7psi, again, way out of efficiency thus it will be blowing air far too hot to be safe for pump gas and even on c16, i wouldn't try it. andf with a bigger turbo I would doubt your engine being able to spool it.
either way, good luck with your dyno queen.
my recommendation- gt35r with 17-20 psi with head gasket. that will spool fast and get the job done... or 2jz swap

Thanks for your helpful reply, 9KRDLIN.
I was under the impression that an S2000 with stock internals would not be able to handle 17-20 pounds boost with just a head gasket.
I am lookin to achieve 400-450 WHP daily driver with INLINE PRO GT35 turbo kit with stock internals besides the head gasket. Am I asking way too much?

Figure 320hp at 7psi on the Inline Pro and you will be in the ball park. Some make a bit more, some a bit less.
IF, and I do say IF, you want the most HP on 7psi then look to a tubular manifold like Full Race. With that you could/would/should be about 380hp on a GT3076.
To get near your 450hp target you will need to be closer to 14-16 psi on a tubular, or 17-20 on a log manifold. You would need a head gasket at minimum.

thx for your input blacky.
I really want to stick with inline pro since they are only an hour from where i live. So lets say I start with a 2004 F22C s2000. I go with inline pro gt35 ball-bearing kit tuned at 17 psi with conservative A/F and timing. I also buy a 3 mm head gasket. Does this sound like a daily driver that I wont have to fuss with as long as its tuned good (and it will be). Even 380 WHP would make me happy given the high compression these cars start with.

with the 3mm you will be lower compression.... you will be about 20 psi to get 450 whp... i have seen 500 whp on a stock block with just the headgasket, because the s2k motor comes with forged internals from the factory. I would not recoomend it for a daily though. You may want to stay around 380 like you said. It will be plenty and give you room to grow still
Silkster many people on these boards are looking into FI for the s2000 and many on here have FI... I think what would be best is if you drove an s2000 for a period of time and then considered adding power. By adding power you have to factor in alot of variables. You mentioned you want a DD s2000 and with that being said be prepared to spend 10-11k on a kit all said and done. It may seem cheap at 3-5k for just the components but then you have to figure in replacing parts like the clutch, head gasket, injectors, EMU, and reinforcing your differential. Plus dont forget the tuner and having everything installed if you chose not to do it yourself. There are kits out there such as KW SC which will get you 380hp at 10psi on a stock 2.2L... I have seen it and riden in it. Adding power like that is going to Change the characteristics of the car! The KW is by far in my personal opinion the best SC kit out there and rivals many peoples turbo setups. Again just my opinion. The KW will cost you around 10k all said and done but it is reliable till the cows come home.
To answer your question about the inline pro kit... Call Ya over at inline pro as he knows their product the best and they will shine the light on what you are blindly stepping into.
I will part you with what someone once told me:
"SPEED COSTS MONEY... HOW FAST CAN YOU AFFORD TO GO!?"
