S2000 Turbo Diff
Hi Ladies & Gents,
I am running a S2000 turbo at around 400whp and have broken 2 diffs, both the crown wheel & pinion stripped.
Currently I am considering using an MX-5 NC's 3.7 crown wheel & pinion as it's believed to be quite strong as well as I like the idea of a longer 3.7 ratio compared to the stock 4.1 ratio.
Anybody here have experience with regards to this?
Regards,
Niwou

Be prepared for most to say it's your driving style is reason the prior diffs may have failed. Typically, there are 4 tried and true opinions for the diff in the s2000 you will have the most information on here about, stock, PuddyMod, inlinePro, and ford 8.8irs, all of which have there own custom gearing, protection, and positive reviews. I've never heard of us using the mx 5 diff

If I recall correctly, my puddymod stage diff comes with a 3.9 gear set from the Miata. So far, it’s been reliable for 15k miles under being s/c’d with 500+/300+ and turbo with 617/442. I don’t dump the clutch.

I went a year with 500 hp stock diff.... my other buddy 650hp 3 years stock diff.
Most likely its your shifting, or lack of of it. downshifting with out rev match super harsh, wheel hop, super harsh, launching with no load, super Harshhhhh.....
Stock diffs arent that bad actually. I ran 700+ on a stock AP1 for 4 months, and its still fine..... no launching only rolling..... Shes temp till the 8.8 goes in.
400 you should be fine on stock diff.
Now if you wanna launch at the track... and your gonna see ALOT of track, go 8.8. or at minimum puddymod.
I ran a stg3 Puddy for over a year on 7-750hp Never launched it, but ALOT of racing, never a issue.
But currently going 8.8
