Thumbs up SC/VTEC question...

Just a quick question...

If the ECU is remapped, and VTEC is changed to engage at 3600rpm rather than 6XXX rpm...would it be normal to still feel that obvious VTEC "kick" at 6XXX rpm?

I would think not. Are you sure that SOS supercharger system was to lower vtec? I am sure they just installed the low boost 5-6psi set up. I know the ap1 version of that kit will not have the vtec point lowered.

well..you would BARELY feel the kick but it wont feel as powerful as it would at 6k rpms. lowering it to 3600rpms is too low anyway and will cause a great deal of extra strain to the motor. Personally 4200rpms is the lowest it should be at as far as keeping it at a safe level.

Well from what I gather, the ECU went to Hondata and was reflashed, Chris from SOS told me that VTEC was 3600 rpm now over whatever it was stock.

I'll go drive it and try to get a video on Youtube to show what Im talking about.

are you sure they weren't saying it would 'kick in' refering to the boost on the supercharger?
iirc, it would start building boost at that point.

you may have misheard?

I dunno.

I asked about VTEC and he said it was set to engage at 3600 rather than the stock setting which I remember to be about 6200 or so?

He did mention that I shouldn't feel the VTEC kick in hard like I did when I went for a ride in their 2005 since my car is DBW.

I still feel VTEC hit hard at about 6200...so I was wondering if other people with supercharger kits still feel that kick....?

I tried to make some videos, but you can't even hear the VTEC jump since its just filmed using my regular digital camera in video mode.

I'll post them anyways...and blame my late shifts on trying to film and drive at the same time.

(will edit this post with links in a sec)

Well unless my ears are broke, I can't hear it at all...but there's an obvious acceleration kick at about 6200 on this one....

This one I started off in 1st gear, and you can't even tell the VTEC change since it looks like Michael J Fox was the cameraman...but yeah

with the reflash VTEC engages @ 3600 or 4200 at WOT.....not sure which one

it will always kick in at 6k when you don't have the pedal mashed
