Default Science of Speed upgrade kit for CTSC

Search didn't show much.

Has anyone on this board actually done this upgrade?

It looks like you have to take the car to one of two shops.

Seems like a major increase in horses and "claimed" reliability increase from the standard Comptech kit.

Does this look worthwhile?

Sounds like they are offering a smaller pulley (3.25"), AEM EMS, and larger injectors.

If you have a decent tuner I would compare the parts list and cost of tuning to see whether it is worthwhile or not.

Well you figure the EMS will cost about $1400 with no gauge or extra fancy stuff, injectors are $400ish, Pulley will be like $100. Installation I have no idea, maybe 4 hours at the most. That would probably be like $400. So $2300 so far. Then $1500 for tuning and dyno time? Not worth it.

Ouch, $1500 for tuning. The going rate in SoCal is $500 for a good full tune. It takes about 2-3 hours on the dyno.

So like you concluded even more, not worth it.

Not sure how 10 psi is "more" reliable, even with the EMS. But nontheless, it can still be reliable! As the others stated, I don't think it's worth it.

I noticed you have a MY05. You can kiss goodbye to any kind of warranty you may have on your car or supercharger! Just my opinion...but it seems like a lot to pay when giving up "piece of mind".

If their parts list is as above then it is defintely the best way to upgrade a Comptech SC. Infact it's what many of us do. But it is more expensive than doing it yourself.

So the upside is one supplier. No one else to point the finger at if there is a problem.

The downside is extra cost.

It's up to you.

AusS2000,

You used to be supercharged and switched to turbo - right? Would the Comptech (or Vortech) unit upgraded with the above type of parts be close to turbo? If so, would such a set up be close to turbo performance with better reliability?
