selecting the right turbo
honestly, that is tough to say it all depends on your set up but if you r looking for more of a mid range puch rather than top end power, these are probably turbos you want to be looking at, or something that has equivilant charateristics. If you look at the dyno graphs that people have for the 3071/76 and compare them to those of larger turbos 35r ect you will be able to get an idea of where the trade off lies. Personally, anything more than 500 whp is propbably not the best for a daily driven S. I know i am going to get flamed for that comment, but what i am saying is expect some downtime with the car if that is going to your future goals. Is the car a DD. The greddy kit is good at the power level you are looking for but it is very hard to upgrade with that kit, thats why i would suggest something that is a bit more "custom." Im sure ya at inlinepro can advise you as to what you should go with for your build. i would call them. I am running a 3076r .82a/r off a custom top mount ELM, 454whp 330TQ at 14psi. Its pretty much a one off kit from top to bottom but its an extreamly fun car for the street quick to spool, and plenty of power to outrun most of the cars you will encounter. Another thing you want to keep in mind is your state laws for inspections cuz, it can be a huge hassel to get the car inspected once the work is done(unless you have a hook up lol)

310 @ 9psi? i guess t3/t4 is a smaller turbo
check my setup/build thread if your looking for a low cost+upgradable alternative to the $5k+ kits while still making more than a greddy kit(link in my signature above)
If you plan on staying under 450 whp, stick with the stock HG.
As for turbo's, the 30R is a really good choice for your goals but is pricey. I wouldn't go any smaller than the 30R either. A 28R is just too small and the good flowing F20 head will swallow up its output very quickly. It'll just take too much boost with that turbo to get where you want to be. A 60-1 turbo is a very good choice for your goals too. They are good for 350-580 whp and spool up well. My old UR spec'd for the S 60-1 at 9.5 psi of boost on the stock CR was fully spooled by 4800-4900 and made around 390 whp and 260 tq. A great turbo for the S imo.

Yeah, I wouldn't go over about 15-16 psi on stock CR. But that will get you to about 450 whp. The 60-1 is actually right between a GT30 and GT35 so its not laggy at all imo. At 25 psi and 580whp 440 tq, i was fully spooled at about 5200-5300 rpm and that was with the 3mm HG. If you're interested in my turbo, its in perfect shape and you would be very happy with it. I know I was but now that I'm going for 700 whp, I need a larger turbo.
