ok, i got this maddd itch to get I/E ... but i know eventually down the line i am gonna go with a Comptec SC ....

is it wise to wait for SC then decide on what kind of I/E i should buy or should i be ok with just getting them now and adding the SC later....i hear people go custom 3inch exhaust setsup with SC/Turbos.

the comptech SC comes with it's own intake... you can get the exhaust now if you want but dont expect any power gains on NA with the exhaust, you are more likely to lose power rather.

You can always use a comptech exhaust with a SC'er down the line so that is fine. It won't offer the largest gains, but we are talking about a few whp here, so I would just go with an exhaust that you like the sound of. Unless you are running mucher higher then stock boost, a larger exhaust (ie. 3" single) is not as important for a SC'er setup as it is for a turbo setup to breathe. Many people run stock exhausts with SC'ers so I wouldn't worry about that too much unless you are very power hungry.

Factory exhaust flows very well for both NA and FI applications, there's no real need to get an aftermarket exhaust unless you plan on some big HP.

If you're modding on a budget, then save your pennies for the CTSC kit and leave your perfectly adequate (albeit heavy) OEM exhaust alone. Definitely do not get an intake unless you like throwing parts away.

If $ is of no issue to you, then go ahead and get the comptech exhaust for minimal gains and maximum cost. I'm sure you can squeeze a few ponies from the exhaust after FI, but if all you care about is power the money is better spent else where (7psi pulley, new belt, an hour of tuning will cost much less than that exhaust but net you much bigger gains).

Hope that helps

i wasnt expecting much power @ all from the any exhaust, but to lose power was a shocker LOL.. honestly, the only reason why i would go with an aftermarket exhaust was just to hear a pissed off s2k + saving some weight.. i was hoping to yeild some good gains with aftermarket + fi..

i had no idea that our stock was good enough for the SC ... i may just wait and first go FI then decide if i need a exhaust or not..

thanks for the info people!

with the responses here...

Unless you plan on getting a really small pulley for very high boost, you shouldn't need to worry about the exhaust. Just get the SC first... It'll cure the mod fever for a little while, whereas just an exhuast will not

bah the power loss issue is from people posting about the hks dual because people lost horsepower in minimal amounts. gains are minimal "generally" with exhaust so it is a good idea to go for sound. but from my t1r i got 16 whp (na) just from the exhaust so it can add power.. single exhausts are the best setup for power

What do you mean by if the stock suspension "holds" with a SC??
