yes you are right 9krpm 80 ftlbs if using the arp supplied molylube or honda specs if using regualr motor oil as lube

from me doing head jobs 4 times in total i lost the moly lube that came with the studs so i used motor oil with honda specs

i didnt know honda gave actual torque specs? i thought it was just tighten to 22ft/lbs and then turn either 2 or 3 90 degree turns depending on if the studs were new or not. If you know them, please please tell me!

That is the specs. There isn't any actual figure.
I recall that AEBS had similar instruction to the honda specs. We checked teh torque at the end and found that it was around 185ft-lbs

In light of everything, I went to double check bore size and I am sitting at 89.25mm. Somehow I got mixed up with the 2 engines that I am having built. After speaking with sean @ ERL the bore did not have to go to 90mm. None the less I will be running high boost on a 89.25mm sleeve. Choosing a gasket is starting to worry me. Like I said above anyone have any experiance with SCE. I can tell you my 89mm sleeves were great for NA use. I did not have any problems with the cometic gasket.

Today I had a chance to speak with Ryan @ SCE. We talked about some interesting facts about the cometic and overall issues a larger bore size cause cause. Basicly the MLS cometic gasket has a sealant around the combustion chamber that is .001 thick on top and bottom. This has been known to degrade and creates a passage for leaking combustion pressure. Also I think we should ask Cometic what they require for clearance between cylinders. SCE looks for .190 between to enable the gasket to seal. I am going to check my clearance tomorrow and report. From speaking with SCE I opened a account and will be ordering a gasket once I have my info. For more information on this gasket go to their web site.

Metal to Metal( Quick Read)

ICS head gaskets have no sealant on the combustion seal. Metal-to-metal combustion sealing is a subtle but important factor in high compression racing engines. An examination of MLS head gaskets prior to installation reveals that the flouroelastomer sealant coating covers the entire gasket body as well as the combustion seal area. Properly constructed MLS head gaskets have a more pronounced embossment at the combustion seal than at other areas of the gasket body where a less aggressive embossment will suffice for low pressure fluid sealing. Sealant coating around the bores has a tendency to scrub off the more aggressive embossment of the combustion seal the as seen in the lower photo. The result after a relatively short period of run time is a gasket that, in effect, is .002

Note 89.25 leaves about .190 between each cylinder. I want to see what cometic says they need as a min. Looks like I might end up doing a custom copper gasket and have a receiver groove made on the deck( O-ringing it) . This seems the only way to really ensure that big bore applications are going to seal. This is going to cost some $$ but better to be safe than sorry. I am doing more research and will update this thread as we get a bit more info. Going to be doing some other measurements to see what options are available. I know I can call cometic and get a 89.25 gasket made, but I am not ready to put faith in that yet. Maybe IP can comment since they seem to have boosted a 2.5L engine that has a 89mm bore if I am correct or bigger.

Ill be waiting...but i think i am going to have to make a desicion in the next few days as to weather i want this block or not. So i will probably go for it and hope for the best.
