Default So ive damaged my engine :( (supercharged) with pics

Hi there

Im looking a bit of advice from you guys.. I recently got my f20c engine bmw e30 track car supercharged an on the 2nd day out a bit of the ceramic broke of the spark plug inside cylinder number 3.. I noticed the car down on power an it was idling like it was of a cylinder..

Ive got a good mechanic looking at it at the minute an he says he can see the side of the block is scored an it has also probably bent valves, but he wont know more to he takes the head off . Now I have to wait on a special tool coming so he can get the bottom pulley of to take the charger kit of first..

Now if this engine is scrap would I be as well buying an AP2 low mileage bare engine an transferring my manifolds etc over? Is this even possible? Or would I be better buying a second hand forged motor?

The supercharger kit has got a larger pulley on it an is only boosting 0.8 bar for reliability.. The car made 363 bhp on 725cc injector dynamics injectors an AEM v2 ecu.

Would my engine be worth anything when it comes out to help recover costs of my new engine?

Thanks Tony

Also is there any racing plugs I can get that wouldn't do this again? Heres the offending plug

Were you running stock plugs or colder ones?

Sorry to hear this

Re-honing isnt as easy as it is on other cars, you have FRM liners for a start - just get a second hand engine.

What make was the plug and heat rating?

It may be worth your effort to explore just getting new sleeve liners (not the entire sleeve ala darton so these are cheaper), rods and pistons if your head is salvageable.

edit: I'm with alloy craft and would add a leak down test as well.

First thing you need to do is a compression check. If that fails then move forward.
