Default Solid Rear End Discussion

So recently my buddy asked me to help him trailer back a few mustangs he picked up a few hour away. As payment he offered me the rear end out of the car. Its a Solid Ford 8.8" complete. But before I keep it I would like to know what would be involved in getting this to work on the S2000. The hubs and brakes I assume I can just get mustang specific rims and brakes out back... And I know the rear end is cabable of 700+++ hp no questions asked. Custom suspension coilover mounts??? Custom brackets??? CUstom driveshaft?? I know it has been done before but what exactly is needed and is it worth it is the question I am trying to get at

To be honest, if your going to do all that work, just get a ford 9".

Figure out what your goals are. For 700ish, it's not worth it in my opinion.

I would prefer that yes but hes had several 8 second mustangs and several 1000 hp builds and he told me dollar for dollar the 8.8" is near indestructable and the 9" is overpriced and not needed. Plust its free... a 9" is not

And for my goal... yeah its going to be between 700-800whp and go low 9`s... thanks for your imput

The 8.8 IRS diff has done before. I have never heard of the solid axle 8.8 being used.....

Problem is getting the 4link to work properly, there isnt a whole lot of room under our chassis and takes quite a bit of fab work/cutting to set it up

^^^agree 100%. We have made two bolt-in four links for an escort and a civic. Not fun, but can be done with some work. Geometry is very important of course.

Redboost, I believe I have seen your rear wheel drive conversion civic. Not only does it run well, it is a very well built car. Love the uniqueness that is under the hood as well. Looking forward to seeing more runs this season from you. I'd say you have the four-link figured out.

This is what I have been told by my partner at FID. Wasn't sure if this was the same gentleman until now. Very impressive work red. Being a tuner in Florida he was talking about an out of state event where he saw the car. He caught your name when he read through our post in FI section. Proceeded to tell me about your rwd civic.

Glad to see its you

(You also have a pm lol)
