SOS gauge pod install?
Seems to be a mixed bag. Most installed it without the stock trim, but a lot are getting rattles and poor fitment. Mine flares out at the top also, even over the stock trim. It would have a huge gap if the stock peice weren't there. I may take it off and use the heat gun to shape the top better, than put some double sided tape around some of the lower edges and use the screw at the top and mount it back without the stock peice. I thought the only point of the stock peice was to give the top something to attach to, but if you can angle the screw and hit some plastic than that's what I am doing. Any other guys using this pod. The more opinions the better.
i have installed many of those - did not use factory piece - removed it - i drill a pilot hole in the metal and use a long screw - becareful not to go to deep - come out/dent outside. they all seam to fit fine.
Because of federal regulations, we're required to sell the gauge pod holder as an overlay. Here is the website:

Customers (as you can see above) have installed it as a replacement however despite this.
The gauge pod is by far better than the Autometer one (in my opinion) since the Autometer pod is not the full length of the pillar. To me, it looks like a general universal part (aftermarket looking). However, that is my personal opinion.
The pods are all produced from the same molded - so they are very consistent. I don't think they are "hit and miss" - rather installation makes a big difference.
When I installed mine, I trimmed the bottom of the factory A pillar trim on the bottom which allows the pod cover to fit nicely into the dash (you can see mine photoed below). I think this is the solution for the original poster since if the dash is pushing on the pod, the top of the pod will be pulled away from the factory trim on the top.
The photos on our website are of my own car, so if you need any help with installation, please don't hesitate to give us a ring.
Cheers,

Thanks for weighing in Chris. I definately need to make some adjustment. I think I will try to take out the OEM trim and drill a slight pilot hole like 2big4aS2000 said. Thanks for all your help guys!
