Ok got back from my tune and I guess I am somewhat disappointed. 305whp and 202 lbft nearly straight across the board on 6psi. I was hoping to get 320-340 range to make me feel good about the investment. It is not significantly more, only 20 hp more, than I got with the MP62, just smoother less noise and much lower outlet temps.

I think I could get some more power by removing the ceramic cat which I have no idea the performance level. It was just done by some muffler shop after my BERK hi-flow melted so I went off the shelf. The 286whp I got with the MP62 had the high flow cat. I also have stock exhaust. It still flatlines but not until 8300 rpm to redline. Not sure if the exhaust is the hindrance but enough spending for this year.

On the positive side, this tuner junked my original Haltech tune and said it was crap. This guy said the other guy had the injectors set at 1000, when his shop just installed 725's. The TPS needed calibration, the 02 needed calibration, and a couple other issues the other tuner just did not do. All in four trips to his shop and a wasted summer. The car now runs fantastically and all of the gremlins are gone as far as I can tell. Fuel was right where it should have been the whole way home (50 miles) and the last tune would fade to the 10's AFR cruising. So as far as than goes, extremely happy.

If anyone is looking for tunes in MN just go to Shane at DB. I was recommended another tuner on this board, who is kind of known on S2ki in MN and have to say the job done on my car was either very little effort or he was just in over his head. It ran poorly, and he could not seem to figure out what was wrong, the other guy ran through the RPM range a few times, looked over the tune a bunch and then came to me with a page of notes with what was wrong and there were several issues. He then sorted it out quickly.

The decision is to keep running it next year or sell and go looking for something new after 11 years with this car. If I do keep it, I will put a few hundred into a custom exhaust, but that is the last thing, I swear.

Very nice! Happy to see this work out, and that you're happy with it. I'm seriously considering something like this, but my only concern is heat and reliability.

As far as I know, nobody has had any serious problems with a roots on an S2000. I would say though that the change to a larger barrel intercooler is HUGE from the original 5x6 inch. I have to redo my intercooler piping with some parts this week but the 5x10 has 66% more surface area on the core than the 5x6 and after lots of hard pulls, it is amazing how much more of the intake is cool to the touch going up the chain. The intake manifold itself feels cooler, but the elbow after the IC is cool to the touch and so is the dummy throttlebody. Those used to be quite hot. Moving the IAT to the dummy throttle body to avoid heat soak seems to have been a good idea to.

My IAT's were not that far above ambient all day on the dyno and recovery time was fast. It is over intercooled at this point. I think the 5X6 was rated to 350-400 hp depending on where you get your info, and the 5X10 was rated at 500 or 600 hp or something like that. I over did it, but the barrel was $800 so what they heck. With a NACA duct for the intake you would be getting pretty close to ambient under most conditions.

A hiccup arose in the tune, but nothing like before, slow roll on to WOT can put it rich and bog and I will get that worked out next week. Played with a C6 on a deserted freeway and pulled on him from 60. He looked frustrated. Man those things look fast when in your mirror and they hammer it.

For anyone with a SOT kit, a bigger PWR barrel is worth it. 5x8 would be made to fit fairly easily, I am having to get a 120 degree and a 60 degree mandrel bend to make it fit diagonally because it is a hair to long. Any kind of intake elbow I have used from expensive Samco silicone to hard nitrile rubber colapses under vaccum. It will still give itself enough air and then expand back to normal with throttle but is all puckered up at idle and looks stupid and like a stall waiting to happen.

I really need better tires though because the car wants to go sideways all the time at decent throttle in first and part of second. You can always feel some wheelspin.

i was so tempted to swap barrels. i didnt do it when i saw the cost of the barrel. glad it worked out well for you. that was one of my biggest problems was heat. again i was over spinning the shit out of my blower. while meth was good, i would have rather accomplished the goal with the bigger barrel. i say over spin it and see what king of power you can get! though a 1320 would be the optimal change.

I don't want to do another set of brackets and spend the dough. The car has been really fun the last couple days though. Really fun. Maybe I will drive it another year. When I get around to it I will post a vid of a couple pulls just for those who have or have had MP62's want to hear the sound difference. It still has a presence but not nearly so in your face with the blower whine.

For sure. Enjoy it for what it is. It's a damn nice setup that has nice strong power band. Very unique too!

Quick video, not great quality but just a blower whine sample. A little cold out when filming so first gear traction was not great.
