so its finally here. time for me to taste the boosted side. i bought this kit second hand from another member for a steal and had to fill in the blanks. its a log kit witha turbonetics 60-1 turbo. not sure on the actual sizes but im honestly not too worried about it. ill be happy with 350 Whp. im sure ill run into snags but thats all part of the fun.
24 feb 2010
its day one and ive gotten pretty far already.
car is jacked up and ready to go.
i decided to take off all the front panels to prevent scratches and dents.
so far i have removed the intake box, installed the new injectors, new fuel pump (which was way easier than expected), and now im working on the air pump assy. that i will no longer need with my AEM EMS. keep an eye out for updates.
Update: 24 feb 2010 (6hrs later)
finally got done with the teardown. took out the air pupm assy. got the header out. all heat shields removed, front air dam removed, stock air diversion panels are gone and its almost time to start installing stuff finally. im going for broke on this, im hopeing that i can be finished with the entire kit by next thursday!!! wish me luck.

goodbye header
hello new home for turbo
this is most of all the crap that goes along with the air pump assy. (its a PITA!)
im going to start the actual install tomorrow as soon as i get off work and get a few hours in on it before dinner with the guys tomorrow night. till then!
Update: 25 feb 2010
i didnt get a whole lot done today. i got off work late and had dinner with the guys. throughout the day i got a total of 2 hrs in on the car. that translates to jack squat in work lol....
i still need to drop the oil pan and order an oil relocation kit. (was told i didnt need it) once i finish with the bolt ons ill be starting the electrical stuff. (not my specialty!!)
this is about as far as i got.
this is where i shoved the turbo up into the engine area. its a bitch but still better than taking the motor off the mount and jacking it up.
update: 26 feb 2010
I hope that today goes a bit better for me. i dont have to work tomorrow so i can stay up all night if i want to. i would like to get a good 20 hours in this weekend and have this at 90% by monday.
UPDATE: 26/27 feb 2010 (1:30 am??)
so im pretty happy with how things turned out this evening. i got a lot accomplished after work. i started by finishing the turbo and manifold debackle!! ended up having to drop the manifold out and mate it to the turbo in the small space between the motor and engine bay wall. it was annoying but i got it done finally. so that brought me to the intercooler and charge pipes.
what i ended up doing with the intercooler is I mounted it to the little black bar just under the bumper support in front of the radiator. i have pics of how I did it that i will post later. after that it was nothing but a few pipes and fittings to get the rest of the bolt ons finished. as of right now i would say that I am about 70% finished with this kit. if I had oil in the motor, feed and drain lines hooked up and an air pump block off plate i could start it up. tomorrow im going to start ordering my odds and ends that im missing to finish the engine bay for good. I will also be starting my guage installs and pod fitting since i cant do much else in the engine bay till i get my other parts in, and get my oil pan tapped.
well enough of that, on with the pics from tonight.
im not much of a fan of the down pipe location. its completely outside of the exhaust channel!!
this is how it looks torqued and ready!!
Intercooler pipes roughed in.
and this is the bar i was talking about and how I mounted it to the intercooler. it was pretty convenient that it can be removed. (is this how everyone else does it??)....
....and theres not a whole lot of clearance between the intercooler and AC system but it works.
heres my favorite one of the day lol..... DONE!!! (for the most part.)
i dont like the filter or intake tube that i have. i think im going to scrap them both and pick up a K&N filter or some fine screen mesh instead. ill figure that out later tho. well thats all for tonight. time to get a bit of shut eye and begin again in a few hours.
UPDATE: 28 feb 2010
i spent the whole day yesterday installing my wideband UEGO and Tru boost guages. i didnt want to just throw them in there and have them look like shit so i took the time to run the wires and lines through the channels under the dash and out through the tray under the windshield. all the lines are hidden when the panels are replaced and it looks pretty clean. im kind of proud of myself lol... i still need to wire the guages but i dont want to mess that up so i have a friend comming over that actually knows what he's doing haha.
i have an oil pressure guage and the greddy full auto timer II to install but those will be way easier since they will be in the center console. after that its all about waiting for the few odds and ends to arrive so i can finish the under hood stuff and be on my way. i think ill start the fuse box relocation next.......
A-pillar removed
here are the guages in the pod.
guage pod secured (going to find a better way to secure the pod to the pillar. those plastic pins dont hold very well.
this is where i put the wires through the dash into the windshield channel, i still need to fill the hole with some rubber sealant. most people will say to use a grommet but the sealant will do fine to protect the wires from the metal and also prevent water from running into the cabin.
this is the new AEM 2-bar map sensor. i had to get a block from tuner toys inorder to connect it to the throttle body.
wastegate vaccum tubes
AEM boot solenoid
today ill be finishing the other two guages and i might start the fuse box relocation. im a little bit weary about it so im sure ill be asking questions when i run into a snag.
UPDATE: 28 feb 2010
so i didnt get really anything done today. i had planned on routing the wires for the oil pressure guage and turbo timer but i ended not getting to them. i wanted to connect my oil feed line but that damn thing went MIA on me and i cant find it anywhere. i did however mount my oil pressure guage in the center console (looks friggin sweet). most of my day was spent doing research and running to the parts store... those guys know me by name already lol.... i had to make a run around 6 and it was after hours and they still let me in lol.
so heres the extent of my day lol.
Update: 2 march 2010
theres not a whole lot to report since the last couple days have been boreing and tedious. but on a good note i got some really helpful tips that were actually common sense---- and that means i figured out how to wire my guages lol... did two in about 10 mins last night just before bed lol... heres some pics.
tonight is the turbo timer and oil pressure since i finally know where im going to route the wires. later guys.

Your front tires are directional and going the wrong way.
You will need to add heat shielding between the battery and the turbo.
the tires are deffinately on backwards. had the wheels off earlier but had to throw them back on for a min to roll the car out of the garage. ill swap them back later.
thanx for the tip about the haet shielding. im going to wrap the lines and move the battery/fuse box when im done with this. that should prove to be fun. (first time)

If you reverse the intake to the passengers side it will draw cooler air.
thats a great idea. although i still dont like it being there. the tube is really awkward and bulky. im going to change a few things along the way just getting everything ready right now.
There are few things on your car that are not Speedcraft parts, the intercooler and intake pipe are not. The intake pipe used a brace bolted to the crossmember as well.
Speedcraft also used a oil filter relocator.
Oh and since you have the fenders off, skip the wasting time on heat sheilds and relocate the fuse boxes to the fenders. It's not hard at all to do, and if you don't mind loosing the window washer fluid everything tucks into there super nice.
