Speed Competition
Alright so i was at a red light yesterday and a Mustang Cobra pulls up behind me. I think it was like an 04 or 05. All i know is it was the supercharged one. So he keeps reving up on me. the light turns green and i roll off normal. Put it into 2nd at about 10mph then get to about 20mph and full throttle it. I have some lag so the Cobra was on my ass. I get to about 5000rpm and i start pulling on him hard. So i wind out 2nd, 3rd, and put it in 4th then let off. At that point i would say i had atleast 8 cars on him. You could easily fit an 18 wheeler between us. The whole time we were in the same lane as each other. So we get to the next light and all i see comming behind me is a state trooper. He pulls me and the Cobra over. He never clocked us and asked how fast i was going. i said i dont know, i dont look down b/c this car scares the shit out of me
. So the Cobra and I both get a ticket for "Speed Competition"
. There is no speed on the ticket and there is no price. I know this ticket cant be good and i need to know from anyone who has experienced this before or knows law at all what steps i should take in getting the least amount of punishment as possible. I am looking for a lawyer as we speak. i know this probably isnt the right forum but i had no idea where to post and i am boosted so i just put it in here..lol and yes to those who are going to ask me if i learned my lesson, i will just keep it at the track now. Please no lectures i am active duty Marine Corps i get enough of them on a daily basis.
Also this took place in NC.

Don't know what it is in your state, in Minnesota I think it is a six month license suspension.
Good idea to get a lawyer and try to negotiate a plea. Usually the prosecuter just wants a win and money for the county.
You could always say "Look officer, you saw how far the Stang was behind me, it did not seem to be much of a competition."

i just want this to get taken care of!
You were cited by the officer correctly.
Out of all the ticketing threads I've seen here over the years, I think MAYBE two or three of them were unwarranted tickets. The rest were spot on, just like this one was.
Let it be a lesson, pay it and move on.

i was respectful to the cop and he even said Thank you for cooperating. So i was hoping i would have less of a fine than the other guy who was arguing with him but in the end we got the same thing. i know he saw us b/c he wouldnt have came to us for no reason, i didnt give him a hastle especially b/c i am trying to become a police officer when i get out of the Corps.

Congratulations on your first encounter with the law racing. Dont let these old guys who have no fun in their rides down you. You build the car to race and be mean on the street. Have fun, pay the ticket and keep going. Never let them see you sweat
