Im making 620whp on stock fuel lines and E85 no problem. Im using the Bosch 044 inline pump which is a great alternative to duel pumps fed by a intank walbro and have had no problems. Just make sure you have a fuel pressure reg.
Good to know. I do have a fuel pressure regulator and gauge on the fuel rail. Right now my fuel pressure is set at about 35 psi at idle.

instead of duals in the tank and relying on the stock lines to support all the fuel, do a single intank and a bosch inline then from the bosch inline use SS braided line to the fuel rail. tony1 has all the stuff you need to setup the bosch inline, including the pump and mounting kit with a relay included.
How much does this setup support on E85 and what is the cost?

e85 will eat the fuel lines. You need the proper e85 fuel lines to run e85 (standard rubber ones get eaten up from the inside).

PM member "Under_Pressure". He is running e85 with 1600cc injectors and new fuel lines. I believe be used -8 lines. Not sure of what material is required, but it is not standard fuel line.

It depends what injectors you are using. with this setup and a base fuel pressure of 100psi, you can make 1000cc injectors act like 1525cc injectors, and make 600whp on e85. with larger injectors you can make more power with a lower base fuel pressure, but you have the option of turning up the base fuel pressure to make a ton of power.

bosch 044 ~ 200
weldon Regulator ~200
bosch mounting kit ~150

So about 550 for the setup. a dual intank will probably cost the same by the time you get everything all settled, and it is not capable of supporting fuel pressures anywhere near the setup i listed.

From tony's site: (about the bosch 044) (and i believe he is talking about gas, not e85 here...)
This pump inline with a walbro in tank is good for over 750whp with the Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors. Two of these pumps run in parallel with a fuel sump are good for over 800whp on 4 ID 1000cc injectors and over 1100whp on 6 ID 1000's.

this is a conversation between me and Tony Palo about 3 months ago on HT

Tony,

hey, i am planning on turboing my s2k in the near future and need some help. i am looking to make around 375ish on 91oct pump and 450ish on race fuel or E85. to run e85 would i be safe with just your 1000cc injectors and a walbro fuel pump? or will an upgraded fuel pressure reg and fuel lines be needed? this is going to be a completely stock and unopened ap1 on AEM...

TONY SAID

These injectors and a single in tank walbro will be good for a hair over 450whp on E85, so this setup is perfect.

i replied......

Now to run e85 will i have to change the fuel lines to ethanol safe ones and change the ap1 fuel pressure regulator out to an aftermarket adjustable one like the aem or aeromotive?

if you could give me a run down of everything needed to run e85 safely on a dd i would appreciate it....

TONY REPLIED

All you have to do is pour E85 in the tank. Don't have to change anything else.

maybe Tony can chime in........

funny this same subject popped up last week on a local forum. i posted this same information:

"E-85 ethanol is used in engines modified to accept higher concentrations of ethanol. Such flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV) are designed to run on any mixture of gasoline or ethanol with up to 85% ethanol by volume. There are a few major differences between FFVs and non-FFVs. One is the elimination of bare magnesium, aluminum, and rubber parts in the fuel system. Another is that fuel pumps must be capable of operating with electrically conductive ethanol instead of non-conducting dielectric gasoline fuel. Fuel injection control systems have a wider range of pulse widths to inject approximately 40% more fuel. Stainless steel fuel lines, sometimes lined with plastic, and stainless steel fuel tanks in place of terne fuel tanks are used. In some cases, FFVs use acid-neutralizing motor oil. For vehicles with fuel-tank mounted fuel pumps, additional differences to prevent arcing, as well as flame arrestors positioned in the tank's fill pipe, are also sometimes used."

no magnesium
no aluminum
no rubber
plus 40% fuel

conversation between me and Jeff Evans

hey there,

i am planning on using a walbro intank pump, and bosch (injectordynamics) 1000cc injectors and shooting for 450-475ish whp on a gt3076 and equal length topmount manifold. with that being said, is a upgraded fuel pressure regulator needed, or will the oem ap1 reg. be ok. do i have to upgrade the fuel rail or fuel lines? any insight would be great!

thanks for your time

**CLIFFS**
do i need a adj. fuel pressure regulator?
do i need to change the oem fuel lines to something ethanol compatable?

JEFF REPLIES

You need an adjustable regulator, the OEM lines are fine

This is some good information. Thanks guys and keep it coming. I was hoping the stock AP1 fuel lines would be ok for E85.

Tony is correct i had a single walbro and th ID 1000cc's and made 495whp on E-85 still on a log running 18psi. So on a equal length you could even make more also this was with a 60-1 turbo. Lines are not needed to be changed stock ones hold just fine for around this amount of power.

So consensus is OEM fuel lines are fine for E85?
