dad's 02 s2000 needs f/i... so he says

supercharging is the way im thinking he will end up going, but if he uses this car as a daily driver... what's a good brand for him so he won't end up hurting his car?

he needs a reliable, powerful, supercharger.... for a daily driver

btw, he's stock right now, motor wise

turbo is more work im sure on the s2000 motor, even though i'd rather he get turbo

 

Different people are going to have different answers on this one. Its just like asking what is the best exhaust available for the S2000 right now.

 

ok well im am a fan of turbo, i drive an audi...

but for the s2000, which is going to be more reliable and less change to the motor itself

he has stock internals now, and im wondering what would work best with his stock internals until he upgraded them too

 

In my personal opinion, a bolt-on supercharger is much more reliable [i(and probably cheaper)[/i] than any turbo kit available for the s2000. however keep in mind my posting is my personal opinion, several other members may disagree with what i'm saying.

If i was in his shoes I would looking into the Hardtopguy Clutch Kit, Comptech Supercharger Kit w/ Aftercooler, 7psi Pulley & Belt, and VAFC2 with Tuning Time.
In all honesty, there is nothing "cheap" about going forced induction on this car.

 

Neither will be reliable if he's not knowledgeable or has money to pay someone that is when it comes to installation and tuning. I'd go turbo but I have at least a fair idea of what it'll take to get it running and running well.

 

IMO go with CT SC w/AC and run it for a while and if you want more power later then depending on how much boost you want to go with, upgrade your tuning (V-AFC or AEM EMS) and injectors if needed.

 

tell him to get the Comptech kit with the stock 5lb pulley. Unless he drives the car hard, the clutch will be fine for a good while. It would not require tunning or anything fuel upgrades.

 

There are only two superchargers kits available for this car and both are tried and true. Which one is up to personal preference. Both have been on cars for years (Comptech a bit longer than Vortech) and both have been very reliable so long as owners don't start to tinker and mess things up when they don't know what they are doing.
Turbos can be "pieced" together although there are a few "kits" being marketed. Most will require a fair amount of tuning and tinkering to get them to run reliably (a lot of stories about "My car won't start or it won't idle" after a turbo install).
(Free plug for a nice guy) ............... Rick's Accessories is about to introduce their turbo kit. If I know Rick and his people, they will have done a thorough job of getting this to the bolt on stage before releasing it.

 

Go with a SC setup simply because it's a bolt on design with little to no major modifications from what I've been researching the past week or so on these boards.
