Default supercharger boost...

What up all S2000ers,
i just freshly installed my vortech supercharger and it seems as if its not boosting till about 6000 rpm. Considering that my redline is 8000, thats not to much of a power band. I was under the impression that a supercharger should give boost instantly but for some reason my supercharger boost like its a turbo... Is there something wrong or is this how the vortech blower gives boost????

Did you get the '04-'05 kit with the 4-1/2 inch pulley?
Do you have a boost gauge or are you just about the boost?
The boost is very linear and starts around 3000 rpm. It really feels good towards redline.

I suggest if you don't have a boost gauge that you get it dynoed and they will be able to tell you what boost at what rpm you are producing.

Yes a supercharger will boost instantly, but it will only be a pound if that. Boost from a SC is linear meaning you are always making boost but you don't hit max until you are at redline. As Sideways mentioned, if you are not running the 04+ pulley you will only be making around 4psi on a Comptech and maybe 6psi on a vortech, which isn't going to feel strong.

And I would definitly pick up a boost gauge...even a cheap one from pep boys will atleast let you see if you are in fact making boost.

i do have an AutoMeter boost gauge, it starts boosting at about 4000 rpm and the higher and higher in rpm i go the more and more boost there is. i do also have the 04 05 vortech kit..i just thought there would be "instant" boost with a supercharger versus a turbocharger.....
thanks for the info

The boost is instant.....but a Turbocharger will achieve max boost at a much lower RPM...which is what you seem to be looking for...

if this were a Roots blower, then yes. Centrifugal style blowers are "laggy" in reference to peak power vs RPM.

Centrifugals aren't laggy. they are Linear. The more RPM you spin them the more boost they make. Unless you are exceding Max impeller speed, which you won't do on a stock SC kit.

What happens if you overload Max impeller speed? Is there anybody
who has gone over max impeller speed (53000rpm)?

The air behind the blade will cavitate and you will loose pressure. If the tip of the blade speed exceeds the sound barrier there will be a little sonic boom in your engine compartment. BOOM
