Default Supertech dual spring seat locators

I just had my head built with the Supertech dual springs w/seat locators, ti retainers, inconel ex valves and nitrite ss in valves. Basically the same build my buddy/tuner has on his AMS built 750 whp EVO.

Well, my buddy/tuner had his head pulled to have it ported by a big time EVO head porting place and they called him telling him that his Supertech dual spring seat locators were badly worn and needed replaced with a better quality spring seat locator. The shop told my buddy/tuner that the Supertech spring seat locators werent very strong and made of aluminum if I heard my buddy/tuner correctly when he called me about it. He has about 10k-12k miles on his head and this has already happened to the Supertech dual spring seat locators and could have dropped a valve over time if he hadnt decided to pull the head for some other upgrades and this wasnt caught.

Has anyone else heard of this or is it common on our heads for the Supertech dual spring seat locators to wear out after so many miles? I dont want to drop a valve after a year or so because of this if mine were to wear and cause a bind in the springs. If this is a known problem, why hasnt Supertech done something about it? Is there another stronger dual spring seat locator we can go with?

We recommend steel spring bases. Even when the last coil is ground, the spring can vibrate at high frequency galling into the aluminum. We sell the set for $38.00 here:

Thanks Chris.

I will keep an eye on mine and when I notice any wear, I'll order a set of these.
