interesting, i've always thought that being 33% of a combustion engine's power is lost through the exhaust pipes that a turbo should be capable of INCREASING MPG especially if it was very small the way a factory turbo is for an engine.

Good to see proper sizing and tuning at work.

are you talking about the efficiency of a turbo compared to something like a supercharger?

or the efficiency of the combustion reaction in general?

a turbo on partial throttle shouldn't have any effect on the tune. This is the tune in vacuum, where the car is running just like stock, except for the lowered compression which decreases efficiency of the burn.

I was told to get best cruising mpg is to find a really flat road with no undulations and put the car on cruise control. Then you subtract fuel and feel the pedal to see if it is letting off, then add timing and do the same thing. A middle ground should offer the best mpg!

no no i just simply mean this bottom fact

lots of wasted thermal, kinetic energy.... turbo eats it up thus makes it more efficient. Sizing matters, tuning I was just giving him props. I'd assume he must have been in boost in a drive anyway, unless he babied the hell outa it the whole way.

I've heard that "cruise" tuning just as you explained should be done as you said. Nervous to try it myself really....

I'd be interested to see regular vacuum vs. turbo vacuum points for partial throttle openings at various speeds.

So what you are telling me is this....when I get tuned, I want a constant 13.7 cruise AFR, and an 11.5 at WOT for optimal gas consumption/performance?
Actually you will not be able to do this with the eManage Ultimate. The OEM ECM will manage 14.7 while cruising (closed loop), if you try to change what the ECM is doing in closed loop you will have problems with the ECM fighting the eManage. You can tune the boost area to run 11.5 though.

with the ultimate, all you need to do to overcome this obstacle is to trick the ecu into open loop by sending a false throttle signal. This is one of the reasons why the 04-05 ap2 basemap wouldn't work properly on a DBW ap2.

I was in and out of boost throughout the whole time
