Default Theoretical Gains & Winter Projects

No matter what I am driving I have this overwhelming urge to make it better. Now that I have the Greddy kit in, I have been looking for ways to make the car/engine smoother, quieter and faster. I have been debating on the following engine modifications this winter. I can do the porting for myself so that is not an issue, I figured with all this I should be at approximately 350WHP and 250TQ.

Porting the combustion chambers, doing some minor work on the intake and exhaust ports and gasket matching the intake and exhaust manifold.

Along with this porting the Greddy log and honing the factory manifold.

Adding a Hondata Gasket

Purchasing a 70mm Throttle Body

Pick up a Meth addiction

Raising the boost to 12lbs, since the compression will be lowered with the combustion chamber porting and the addition of meth I should be okay.

The Jury is still out on these

Would new valve springs be worthwhile? (I will change the retainers if I pull the head.)

What about something to change the Vtec point? Is it worth my time to figure out how to hook up the Emanage up to adjust it?

Maybe putting on exhaust, it has to be factory quite on the highway at 70, any suggestions.

Not worth it....

I have the Meth for detonation suppression, going to get it tuned VERY conservatively, I have a clutch and flywheel install down the road, but all that work for such small power is silly, I have come ot grips with my GREDDY kit and love it for what it is

from what I understand you can run 12PSI with METH................stock compression

I agree with joe. A lot of people tend to get the Greddy kit and like it at first, but it doesn't lay you flat in the seat with power like you hoped it would. I was one of them! So Greddy owners seem like they want to find ways to add more and more power to it ( but it would probably never be enought with the Greddy). I would love to have one of the those 400whp 270 lft lb cars, but I got a GREAT deal on my used Greddy kit, it still passes OBD2, and it has much more power than before. I may add a meth injection down the road for safety and a little more torque and than I am good.

I have a stock exhaust also. Tuner says it is probably keeping me from hitting 300 whp, but no drone on the highway is worth giving up the 20 extra hp. If you do want to get an exhaust, I have heard that the Invidia V4 (q300) is a good quiet 70mm exhaust. It would probably be what I would get if I were to get an exhaust.

I am very happy with the power of the Greddy Kit, I am not looking for Inline PRO's full throttle monster. I bought the kit for the part throttle performance as my first requirement, and I am sure it is much better than any other kit on the market. Basically for the installed price and performance for everyday I am super pleased. This is not to say it is perfect by any means.

I want to port the combustion chamber to reduce the chances of detonation, instead of a 2mm or 3mm head gasket. I would prefer to run near stock timing and AFR's at 12.7 rather than 11.7-12.0. If I am going to port the head I might as well gasket match and clean up the intake and log. Every performance car I have had I have done this and have seen minimal gains without spending almost any money.

I am hesitant on the throttle body as I do not want a loss in throttle response, but I do not think this will make much difference since the 70mm throttle body does not change the CFM dramatically. For instance on a Vette I had I built the motor and bottle fed it so I was putting out substantially more power. Thus I increased the throttle body from about 600CFM @ STD conditions to 1000CFM. I gained horse power but lost the throttle response it originally had. I threw this out to get a general consensus, Science of speed claims 5-7 HP.

The gasket just makes sense with a turbo, the intake temperatures will be so high that there should not be any problems evaporating the fuel before it enters the cylinder. So reducing the intake temperatures a few degrees might let me run another 1/2 degree of timing for $40.

I would love to see what gains the Borla makes and hear it in person, I have it on my Colorado and the sound is great yet not too loud. In fact I have run Borla on many of my cars and have always been happy. I will have to hear anything I buy for this car in person to make sure. All the video

The stock S2000 head is already very well ported/slightly polished stock. When you take off your intake manifold, or the head for that matter, you'll be amazed at what you'll find. The runners are smooth and there isn't a whole lot to port/polish. You'd gain less for the money on porting and polishing the head than porting the intake manifold and porting the stock TB (which is what I planned on doing, since I don't like the feel of ANY of the aftermarket throttle bodies which I believe most can be ported to 66mm). Thats just what I think, but I believe that it's a much better idea than porting the head.

Good luck to you!
