Think I bought a messed up s2000
just bought my 2002 s2000 and it has a gt40r turbo. I was told the car made 420 RWHP at 13 psi by Polk Performance in texas. car ran fine for 250 of the 1300 miles trip back home. I ran outta gas with my gauge showing 1/4 tank and had to call AAA to get a refil. they put a gallon of 87 in it to get me moving and i went to the nearest gas station and got a full tank of 93. I was never beating on the car at all when i bought it and didn't have any problems before this. But now when I got home and it is safe to "see what the car can do" Istarted gettin on the throttle and it seems like at 6k and 13-15 PSI the BOV goes off and all boost dumps and the car drops in RPM's. This is my first turbo car and first honda. My friends think my vtec solenoid may be clogged. Anybody have any input or need any more info to help me out let me know. I've also ran through 1st and 2nd to 9k rpms and didn't hear vtec and the boost didn't dump since I was only at 3 PSI max.
It has a AEM series 2

boost cut ?
doubt its the vtec system, as it most likely engages a lot sooner than 6k assuming you have a good flowing exhaust manifold, which you should because you have a rather large turbo hanging off it
but wtf is up with only hitting 3psi revving to 9k rpm's...were you not loading the engine enough to boost, or was the pedal to the floor? if the pedal was to the floor i'd check for a boost leak somewhere

Sounds like what happens when your car isnt warmed up and there isnt enough oil pressure for the vtec to engage... maybe take a video of it?? and stupid question, but your temp was at or above two bars on the gauge right? or does it not read correctly because of the AEM?

and like said earlier.. your vtec engagement should be lower than the stock 6k if its tuned with a decent manifold (so I understand)
stop flooring it and have someone look at it. boost cut, too much timing, fouled plugs, too much fuel, bad bov, etc etc.
good luck.
