Default Thinking turbo but have nagging doubts

I have a bone stock '03 and want to go FI in the near future. I've debated the turbo vs sc thing for a while now. After all is said and done, even though it's less expensive, given the power characteristics, the SC setup just doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Therefore, I'm very strongly considering a turbo setup, but i have some nagging doubts.

I don't street race and I'm not looking for big power numbers. The turbo setup would strictly be for my driving enjoyment . I'd be satisfied w/ 300 whp and a nice torque curve. I'm willing to spend the time and money up front to do it right as well as the extra maintenance, but what a don't want is for the car to turn into a perpetual headache or a money pit.

So, given my parameters, is a turbo setup realistic? From my reading on these boards (yes I've read just about all the posts in FI) I'd probably go w/ the LoveFab kit, but am open to suggestions.

I'd like to hear from any turbo owners who have significant mileage on their kits and who haven't blown engines, shredded differentials, broken axles, etc.

Thanks, jc

I have the Ultimate Racing kit and so far it has been a blast. Everything has held up together fine.

You'll be ok as long you don't drive stupid. It's basically up to your driving habits that'll determine what will break and what won't. Even running the Emanage the drivability has still be great on just the stock boost levels. Get as good a tune as possible and a good complete kit and you should be boosted for a long time. Just stray from launching and any other idiot moves.

It all ends up with the kit and tune. Good kit + good tune = happy S2000.

i have been running a turbo for over 5,000 miles and have no problems with anything except for the bolts comming out of my downpipe from the heat, but replaced them with studs and have had zero problems. and it is really awesome to drive around town.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I just wanted some assurance that people are running moderate turbo setups w/o tons of issues. I guess you read so much about turbo problems b/c a) the guys trying for big numbers are more likely to post and b) no problem - no reason to post.

Anybody else running a relatively hassle-free turbo setup?

For every happy customer you will get ten more from them. If you have a bad customer you will loose 100 because they talk to much. Hense the reason why you hear about peoples problems so much.
