Default Thought / question about AEM EMS

Is there a way that I can program the CEL to turn on when vtec engages?

I'm not sure how the AEM EMS even reconginizes if vtec is engaged or not so I'm not sure if you can do this or not.

Thanks

I'm not sure. It would be nice if we could program the CEL for anything we want, like to much knock or something like that.

I know you can turn on the check engine light for a shift light, so I'm sure you can program it for other functions as well.

However, you shouldn't need a light to tell you whether VTEC is engaged or not, it's pretty obvious.

LS#10, Pin A18, you can configure that output to turn on/off based off of several variables within the software.

There are actually a few pins you can setup as ouputs or I believe grounds although I dont remember which ones off the top of my head its in the manual. I have my ems turn my meth on once I get to a certain amount of boost at wot. There are alot of options to activate the output so I am sure you could figure soemthing out.

If you check the configure menu at the top, it has a option called outputs where you can configure the outputs. Then just like boostedf22 said, you would just hook it into pin A18 on the factory harness which is connected to the stock CEL light. You can actually configure that light to do a number of things. Check that output menu for a list on the AEMPRO software.

To be honest, with the turbo, I really don't even know if vtec is engaged or not. I pulls hard to redline and all but whos to say thats not just a large ass turbo making good power regardless of vtec or not?

(I get paranoid pretty easily lol)

Spec what are you trying to see exactly? Because even if the EMS sends the signal to en-gauge the vtec, and you see a light, that may not mean it is working.

On the other hand, I would love it to show even the slightest amount of knock. I have first hand had a engine die and I had no idea I was detonating. This feature could have saved my engine.
