I'm so mad, i drive the car for a week after the v160, then vinyl wrap it while i go on vacation, drive it for 2 days, do a few highway pulls with a buddy to show him the car, starts ticking, do a leak down and compression test, valves are ok, compression is mint, plugs are good, take whole turbo set up off to replace the tct with the inline pro version, put everything back on, turns out my tct wasnt the problem, i wanna punch someone, more info coming soon, can i remove the timing chain cover with out removing the pan? just the bolts that go through the pan to the cover?

Sounded like mine too. I tried everything. Replaced the tct, took the drive belt off, valve adjust, compression tested(200, 200, 200, 215), replaced rod bearings(no brass flakes in the oil but thought Id try anyway), and nothing fixed it. I finally dropped it and took it apart. I found the #4 was scored badly.

O that reminds me. My friend had that problem. He didnt align the cam gears right after doing retainers and chipped one of the cam gears teeth. It caused a horrible clicking noise. That could also be the problem. That would be easily spotted when you pop the valve cover off.

Matt,

You CAN get the cover off without dropping the pan, but no chance you will get it back on. Save yourself the headache and just drop the pan down.

Ask me how I know.... lol
