I'd ask to see the chain itself.

I had a shop install a 3mm for me and they were complaining about how it was way too tight and they needed another link or something. My guess Is they tried to force it on too hard or add something.

sounds like they didn't retract the TCT when reinstalling it and it put too much tension on the chain and broke it. Definitely ask to look at the chain and the TCT.

When I was installing the 3mm headgasket, I was trying to put the chain on the front side of the cam gear which is incorrect. I could see if someone was prying etc to get it on that they could damage the chain. Check the chain itself and around the cam gear on the head. I agree that they may not have retracted the TCT before reinstallation.

honestly... i think your the first person in the entire s2k community to have a broken timing chain. I think they are bullsh!ting you, or they broke it and are trying to blame it on you. our cars are too god-like to have something like that broken. would you say...you trust your shop?

they said that it was to tight and that they called inline pro. inline pro said you have to mess with the tensioner guide. they confimed that it was the tensioner guide and are working it today. will keep posted.

yeah i know the s2k's dont have probs with there chains. that was the first thought in my mind is that it was to tight.
