Default Tracking a turboed S2000?

Hi,

Very curious as to this.

A)Do you track your car?
B)Are you still on your first motor?
C)How often do you track your car?
D)How many miles since turbo was installed?
E)Any info that may be helpful.

Thanks
Chris

I'd say it depends on your kit for us to say how reliable it is. But even then, it's still down to your tune. But tracking will be pushing the car to it's limits - GOOD!

I have one of the first LoveFab S2000 turbos and track my car. Ok, so I've done two track days since I went turbo and only done about 5000Km but the intention is there.

Usually when people ask questions like this they go on to talk about how they will boost 12psi and tune with a VAFC and... Seriously, if you're going to drive the car properly you need to be realistic about set up. Don't go for too much boost (I'm at stock 7.2psi) and don't cheap out on hardware (AEM, bigger injectors etc). And definitely don't cut corners on tuning. get a reliable tuner with a dyno.

Another area to consider is oil temp. Tracking a turbo car is murder on oil and our car doesn't have an oil temp sensor, nor a proper oil pressure sensor. I'd suggest some gauges and better still, an oil cooler.

I am asking for reference. My car is getting sleeved and god knows what else is in store for my set-up. I was more looking for others than myself. For future reference.

Cbender and yakrat both tracked there speedcraft turbo cars. (cbender has since sold his car)

yakrat's car was making 400+whp on pump gas, and 500+ on C16. Any 2.0L engine getting the snot beat out of it on a road course making that much power is going to fail sooner than stock. He's not on motor #1.

Both of there cars are using monster C&R radiators, water cooled turbos, and additional oil cooling.

350-400 whp is a handful on the track. 500+ is insane. yakrat's car was spinning a set of pilot sport cup's at the top of 3rd gear without much problem.

Wasn't Yakrat using the 60-1 Hi-Fi? I believe that is the turbo Speedcraft uses, which isn't water cooled.

He's got a 60-1 hi fi that was custom ordered with a water cooled center.

That's interesting. I wonder how much I'll get before I max out mine. I was aiming for 450whp but I don't think I'll get there.
