Default Tranny grind is getting bad...

I'm getting some bad 1 to 2 gear grind going into 2nd. It's now to the point where it will do it once out of every 3 times I push the car a little. What's the typical solution? (the forum's search function stinks)

Nevermind...I just found a post that basically says I can get a TSB done (which I will have to pay for, I think) but it's not sure to fix the problem.

Fluid change is always the first thing to look into... Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid (Friction Modified) part# 12377916 has had rave reviews on this board. Overfill as much as possible (full two quarts)

SMFM doesn't last long for many people though. OEM fluid would be the easiest thing to try first.

What about the Redline fluid they sell at Go Fast?
I've always heard good things about Redline.

I too have severe grinding from 1st to 2nd gear. I took my car into the dealership to get the scheduled maintenance done. I told the guy about the grinding problem and that the gears seem to shift a little rough in 1st through 3rd. Often times, the tranny makes a thunk noise when I shift between the lower gears.

Basically, they said they couldn't recreate it and that the new transmission fluid should take care of it.

The new fluid seemed to help, but it still grinds now and then. I'm afraid that my transmission will go completely out the day after my warranty expires

Is this a common problem? Does the TSB really help? How many other people have this problem?

Thanks!
