Thumbs up Transition hose and clamps

I'm trying to replace the stock transition hose with a different color and also am considering replacing the weaker hose clamps with the stronger T clamps.

There was a site posted before that had all that stuff. If someone knows it off the top of there heads.....can you posts the link.

I googled a lot of different sites....but can't find the one I'm looking for.

Appreciate the help.

Tim

Thanks...

I'm considering replacing the stock transition hose between the snail and aftercooler and the throttle body and aftercooler with a hose that is 1 inch longer. I think the extra 1/2 inch on either side of the clamps will give me piece of mind.

I'm always paranoid of those things slipping off cause it's a tight fit with the clamp, the edge of the hose and the edges.

Anyone else do this?

I have done this on my Comptech Supercharger with Aftercooler. Once we removed my supercharger to install a smaller pulley we had a very tough time trying to line everything back up. Once we did, I was blowing the coupling off everytime I took the car above 8k rpms.

It was a while ago, so I don't remember the exacts, but I can tell you how I went about it. First I removed the couplings off the car & measured them in width. I then went to a local "Semi-Trucks Part Store"! Sure it sounds weird, but it works. The radiator hoses that are used on Turbo Semi-Trucks are long, strong and can handle the heat/psi! I picked up about 1 foot of light blue hose for under $15 - then had a friend give me 4 t-bar clamps free!

Here is where you will come across a problem though. The radiator hose is actually thicker in width than the regular couplings used by Comptech. With this in mind, the bracket that is underneath the blower itself will not allow you to change out that coupling, it will be too wide and not allow you to get a clamp around it. However!!!! What you can do is use the new longer thicker stronger radiator hose to connect the aftercooler & throttle body. Then use the black coupling that Comptech originally used to connect those two with and use it to connect the blower and aftercooler - its a snug fit as it is not as wide, it must be worked just right. However if you can get it to work, you will get a good extra bit of length on both!

Please let me know if you need more detail!

I had the EXACT same problem with my comptech w/ ac. A guy on the board i met 'johnz' recommended 'hosetechniques.com' They look like a good supplier.

I ended up not buying from there because a turbo shop near my house (Innovative Turbo, ya heard? ) sells that stuff. I got a 3'' dia 4'' length for the snail>AC connector and a 3'' to 2.75'' reducer for the AC>thottle body connector. 4 tbolt clamps. Any notice that the outlet pipe from the comptech AC is larger than the TB inlet?

Everything was less that $10/ peice, except the reducer connector, which was 25 bucks. My total was 60 bones.

If you really want, i can pickup the exact same setup from Innovative for you and mail it to you. They carry all their stuff in stock. shipping would be like 3 or 4 bucks. PM me if you want me to.

They work great, had the same problem boosting my Mk2 Mr2 at 17psi. Cheap Home Depot Hose clamps kept comming off under heavy boost. Never again after switching. Much better value than those other fancy specialty shops.
