Trouble starting car when hot.
My car will fire right up when its dead cold. When it has been running for awhile it is drawing so much amoerage that it has blown the 150amp fuse that was installed next to the battery and now I am running straight metal bar in its place just to crank it over. I have to hold the throttle wide open and hope it fires up. It cranks sloly and is just drawing so much power the lights dim does anyone have any idea what could be causing this. It just started happening within the last week.
I'm not sure what is causing it but if its blowing a 150amp fuse using a "quick fix" in the form of a metal bar isn't a good idea. the fuse is there for a reason if its not there to blow, something else more expensive will give out in its place!
I know. I installed the fuse just for that reason. I have a fire extinguisher in the car, but it is only happening during the start up. Can the starter be getting that hot or could something be swelling up and be causing trouble for the starter to crank?
The battery is brand new. It has been relocated to the trunk which is why I decided to post in the forum. It is an odyssey pcx650 or 625. I am just wondering if it is a combination of the motor being hot the relocation and the summer time all wearing on the amperage draw to turn the motor over.
i am also running the odyssey PC680 battery. NOt sure what 650 or 625 is and and I have noticed the car crank slower during these past coupla months. Brand new battery as well and relocated in the trunk.
Not sure what it might be as I haven't spent time looking into it. I was going to step up the battery to a PC925 and see what happens but haven't yet...
