Default TTS vs Kraftwerks High boost.

Hey guys,

I'm dead set on getting a supercharger for the spring and at first I was locked in on KW high boost. Having frequented these forums for a while i started to see a lot of TTS come up and I'm wondering what the major differences are about these kits. I'm not looking for 500+ BHP or anything, just some good serious power with OEM reliability characteristics. Here in Canada the majority of premium fuel comes with 91 octane, (ultra 94 in some areas but not all). I'm not sure if thats relevant. I'm aiming for 400 horses. Thanks in advance.

A.

400 bhp or whp? Because you arent going to reach 400whp with the kraftwerks reliably or easily

Don't both kits use rotax blowers? i'd love to get 400 reliable WHP but even 350 at the wheels would be sufficient for my use.

350whp you'll be good with the kraftwerks kit. 400 won't really be possible unless you overspin the blower.

So are there any benefits over the KW kit going with TTS or are they pretty much running the same setup? Also would you guys recommend i go with the highboost KW kit thats pre-programmed or opt for the tuner kit? I have a 70mm exhaust currently and i know the preprogrammed kit is meant to run with stock. I'm not 100% sure if it will benefit me or hinder me. Another issue for me is that in my area there arent any reliable tuners/dynos.

TTS uses an upgraded blower I believe to spin faster and for higher power levels. The kraftwerks high boost kit comes completely maxed out it seems. I think it is almost overspinning the blower as it comes.

R3D:

I just received my TTS kit Friday to replace one of the original high boost KW kits that has very few original parts trying to get the most [sane] power out of the kit. First off, the KW has performed well and has been problem free but I seek more power since driving an S with a C38-81. The KW kit comes with a C30-94 [biggest sc in the C30 series] whereas the TTS kits come with a C38-81 or C38-91 which the C38 is the next series in the Rotrex line. To start, on either kit you are going to want to be able to program your own f/I and ignition tables, standalone or Hondata depending on the MY of your S. For tuning [since you have few to pick from] you can always do a remote tuning with Jeff Evans. Quite a few guys or [mates] over in the UK use him. If your goal is to reach 400whp/bhp using 91ron fuel then the KW kit is out of the picture as far as having a sane setup. Another pill that may be hard to swallow is the exchange rate or conversion of the Canadian dollar to the British Pound.

C38-81 vs C30-94

The TTS kit is a totally different design, meaning it places a larger Rotrex charger in a different location using a different belt routing, different brackets and different charge piping. It's supposed to be noticeably more powerful. I suspect it's the best supercharger solution on the market for our cars, but I don't know for sure if that is actually the case because I haven't seen too many dyno's of it on this side of the pond at high boost. I haven't heard of any failures or major issues with it, but then it's kinda new and doesn't seem to have been widely adopted yet.

The KW kit is really well suited to our cars. If you know for sure that you'll never want to reach 400whp, then it's an easy choice. Several owners have had trouble with the idler pulley, but there seem to be fixes for that.

Both are great options. I'd lean TTS myself because more power is always better.

http://www.shop.kraf...D0.qscstrfrnt04
Looks like $5,995 to $6,295.

http://www.rotrexsup...prod_s2000.html
Looks like $6,086 USD at today's exchange rates for the regular kit, $7,208 USD for the race kit.

At those prices I would definitely go TTS. Get the extra power and be permanently satisfied...
