Tuning the Hotside Supercharger
I have installed a non-intercooled "hotside" Eaton MP62 supercharger. It is currently running 6 PSI (from about 3200 rpm to redline). I also installed 1 step colder plugs gapped at 0.035.
Currently I am using the ELF piggy back that Stage One Tuning includes with the kit. It essentially holds the injector open for a longer duration based on the amount of boost added. There are pots to adjust tip in, additional duration per pound of boost and max duration.
I initially tried keeping it at around 12:1 over the rpm range but found some difficulty getting it dialed in. If I am at 12:1 post VTEC, I end up in the low to mid 10's pre-VTEC. The car pulls nicely post VTEC but demonstrates some hesitation pre-VTEC (although it had noticably more power than stock). I played around with it a little more and found that I could get it to run in the 12:1 range pre-VTEC, but post VTEC it climbs up to 12.9:1 near redline and has a spike at 6500 rpm to 13.2:1 (just long enough to see it on the gauge).
Obviously running the latter provides much better power and exhibits a smoother VTEC transition.
Knowing that the CTSC and VTSC's tend to run in the 13-14 range - should I be concerned at hitting 12.9:1?
I also wonder if I may be better off putting the OEM Platinum plugs back in and just re-gapping them to 0.035? Many Vortech users keep running their OEM plugs.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you may have.
Will be heading to the dyno later this week.

CTSC and VTSC's do not normally run in the 13-14 range to my knowledge, not mine anyways.
12.9 post vtec would be leaner than what I would personally be comfortable with. What you're experiencing is pretty much what most SC'd people that run 7psi or beyond experience, thus the need for standalones.
For plugs, I run one step colder gapped to 0.034 which is pretty standard.
That aside -how its run!?!?

I may try putting the platinums back in and gapping them at 0.035, see if I get a little better bottom end performance at the richer AF ratio
The kit runs really nice, fitment is very nice also. Ran much better once I got the lower rpm AF ration to 12:1 range.
Going to play around with it a little bit more and see what happens. Have yet to see anything leaner than 13.5 and those are just blips at VTEC engagement.
I suspect that tweaking the FPR would possibly clean those AFR's up a bit more.
Those blips are pretty common from what I've seen, I wouldnt worry about it.
Good luck with it though, I'm looking forward to seeing the final results. I'm a tad disappointed with the bottom end grunt of my CTSC, hopefully this kit will shine where the CTSC falls.
