I have not started yet, today is 6/25/08 and I am possibly starting my Turbo Build tomorow night!
A list of my Setup:
60-1 turbo
hp performance manifold
3inch hp downpipe
tial 38mm wastegate
hks bov
precision 600 intercooler
aem ems 1052u
3mm headgasket
boost controller
precision 880 injectors
walbro 255 fuel pump
custom intercooler piping
stainless steel oil feed kit
High heat rubber hose return
2 Aem serial gauges
Maybe missed a few things, if I think of anything else I will list it.
I will be posting pictures of my build.

The only thing that is going to be a PITA is the custom intercooler piping, I have 3inch aluminum piping, couplers, clamps. I am not sure how I am going to weld the aluminum piping, I might have to cut it and take it to a nearby welding shop, but I really would rather do it myself! Any Ideas?!

I assume you will also be installing a clutch at this time? Some of the bolts will be much easier to install when you have the head off and the intake manifold unbolted. The mysterious starter bolt is in plain site with the intake manifold shifted out of the way.

if you know what your are doing a clutch is not problem - 2 1/2 hours start to finish
why do you take the intake off????? and the starter bolt takes only a minute to get to. (you have to have the correct tools)


with those injectors you will need a resistor box
you will need a new map sensor

you have to tig aluminum - takes a AC/DC tig

You don't have to actually take it off but once you unbolt the manifold from the head, it's easier to find.

As for intercooler piping, I cut it to length and marked it up, but had a professional weld it.

I myself have not tried it, but have read about hot rod guys doing this before for like exhaust piping and whatnot. But they mock it up in PVC and then take the PVC shapes to a muffler shop or your fabricator of choice and get them to bend/weld them together. Just a suggestion.

I'd love to hold the stop watch for this one.

I've seen a lot of great techs that can't do it under 3 hours.

no, I am not doing the clutch for about a month.
Yes, I do have a map sensor the omnipower 4 bar, and I have a 4 10 watt 10 ohm resistors i am going to saulder in.
I did not get to start today, because my plan was to get it inspected than to start but I failed because of my exhaust, window tint.
I talked to a welding shop today, they said I can buy either durafix or aladin it is stick rods that you heat with a propane torch onto the aluminum to weld it, still might have it professionally done thought.
So i am disapointed until hopefully mid next week when I find a place to get an inspection sticker!
