Default Turbo and gears

I'm fairly new to turbos and very close to ordering the Greddy turbo kit for my AP2, but I'm wondering about how well this kit would perform with my 4.44 gears. The car is my DD and I do a lot of driving on the freeway, as well as around town, and I'm not known for sticking to the speed limit.
Would it be advisable to swap my stock 4.10 gears back in, or will the 4.44s work fine with this kit?

Also, which Greddy BOV is recommended for this kit? The Type RS seems to be popular, but I'm unsure of what size should be used.

You will need to keep the 4.44 gears to make up for the lack of power the greddy kit puts out

Thank you for that thoughtful and informative post.

dean, your 4.44 gears should be a good match for the Greddy kit. The combination should give you excellent driveability (assuming you don't encounter one of the problems that others are reporting with the Greddy kit).

Both the Greddy kit and a set of 4.44 gears are in my plan, once the bugs have been worked out of the kit.

as long as you are not planing to go high boost it should be a great combo... are you going to have great low end tq but will loose some high end tq..but with a basic greddy kit you should not worry about that. I am doing the opposite, I am doing a 3.77 gears but i will boosting 20psi plus..

Did you mean 3.77 or 4.77?

Some will argue that 4.77 is too much gear for a 400+whp S.

I would love to see a back-to-back comparison of different gear ratios on a 400whp S. I would be willing to bet that all else being equal the 4.44 ratio would give better performance due to the 4.77s not being able to hook up.

I belive that with a lower gear like a 4.77 with 400+ hp all you will do all day is shift shift shift... and not really enjoy your car..

3.77 sounds a bit long but i was thinking about doing the same. I'm just worried about 110+ acceleration. are the gears custom made? or from another manufacturer? when will your car be ready? it's been forever. fill me in with some feedback on the gears please
