My stock head with ap2 retainers was pretty good to me. Valve failure happened on 30psi. I guess thats my fault for running 30psi on a stock head. Haha

The thing with the head is there are different levels of failure. Valve failure being most extreme but theres 15% 10% 5% 1% cylinder leakage, just because an engine isn't 'blown' doesnt mean its good.

Are oem valves coated? It looks like the coat or paint gets chipped off?

valve failure is pretty rare and when it does happen its always on the exhaust side. I personally run super tech .5mm oversized super tech inconel exhast valves, bronze valve guides, super tech titanium retainers and duel springs all with stock oem intake valves. Valve job and work done by tom at port flow.

Looks like im going to be the guinea pig, I went with 4Piston Racing. Port and Polish head, Manganese Bronze valve guides, Ferrea S101000 spring kit, Ferrea Retainers, Ferrea competition plus oem size super alloy valves, and cnc open the combustiom chamber. Will post up the flowchart when i get it back.

Ferrea is quality and 4P does good work, you'll be fine just less rich.
