Default Turbo kit questions

Hey guys,
first time posting but i've used the site to solve many of my s2k issues so thanks.
I'm putting together a custom turbo kit for my 2001 s. I am on a lower budget and building my own kit is more cost effective for me.
First the car:
100,000 miles, ap1, engine still showing strong compression.

My goals pretty simple: I only want around 8psi of boost nothing crazy just a little umph.

Now the setup i'm looking at building: budget (3,000, for parts)
Turbonetics turbo (not sure ar houseing etc. yet)~$900
AEM EMS or emanage ultimate~700-1400 (I have the emanage)
Injectors~450
Oil feed lines, misc parts ~600
now here's the part i'm having problems with, the piping, intercooler
I am considering buying a ebay turbo kit, throwing away/reselling turbo, lines, wastegate,BOV
and using the piping and intercooler for my kit.
Its cheaper than buying the piping and bending it at the shop
I was hoping to see if anyone has had any experience with a ebay piping and or intercoolers?
(I can work with the piping i know it will fit like crap at first, but cut reweld etc.)
if you guys know of a piping kit/ intercooler setup for around 900$ that would be helpful
any input appreciated, its my first time assembling a custom kit and looking for advice. thanks!

I'm the local S2ki physic. When I look into my crystal ball I see regret and frustration in your future... Your plan sucks scrap it and do more research and get more money. Budget turbo s2000 are 3 words that do not belong together.

First thing you should pick is the manifold. the entire kit is based off of the manifold. then pick a good turbo, Borg Warner or Garrett. The charge piping, downpipe, and dump are all built off the location of the manifold and turbo. lastly... make sure you like to wrench on your own car. paying a shop to fix shit will bankrupt you unless youre a millionaire.

If your looking for advice, everyone is going to tell you not to run emanage. And not to use turbonetics.

Get a used aem box, and a decent turbo can be had for 900 for sure.

I sold my gt3076r with 8k miles on it for 700.

You can get quality if you search long enough. PM sent

Forgot to add I work (intern, college student currently) at a racing shop here so the wrenching would all be done by myself and yes i enjoy it.
The manifold is my biggest uncertainty right now, i'm considering a basic cast iron log type manifold if it cracks i dont care all that much i need more welding practice.
and as for budget turbo s2k not going together thats not true...everyone has a budget, mine is just a college students budget.
I understand that there is always a right "expensive" way to work on cars. I'm not looking for everyone elses method of turboing im looking at setting up a kit that fits my needs.
I don't drive more than 2 miles to school and back, thats about it. i just want my own setup to wrench on.

This is what you should buy.

Pang has amazing warranty, stands behind is product 100%. Its affordable and comes with everything you need minus management and fuel. Not sure how much cheaper you think you can do this. If you skip out on something now you'll pay for it later and usually its a lot more expensive to pay later.

Reapur,
Thank you very much...that would make an excellent starting point.. i have an emanage i know people hate them but would it be enough to get a basic low boost tune?
I'm not very knowledgeable with injectors yet, any advice on size flowrate etc?

ID1000 fuel injectors.
Fullblown 340 LPH Fuel pump
AEM EMS series 2

please ditch the emanage and buy the series 2 EMS. theres no room to cheap out on these kinds of things... Avoid RC injectors like the plague. ID1000's are the benchmark and behave like OEM at idle and dont run out of steam up top either. For your power goals you wont outgrow the ID1000s ever.

The pfab kit looks to include high quality parts for a decent price. Can't go wrong with Garrett and Tial. I would sacrifice every last penny to pick up a use AEM EMS over an E-manage. I would go with a use turbo kit if you have to. If you do end up piecing it together pick up a garrett t3/t4 for a lot less than 900 bucks.

The spray pattern on the ID1000s is superior since ID specifically modifies the nozzle on the Bosch injector to improve upon it.

They may be the same injector but the nozzle is superior on the ID1000 which is what has made them the bench mark in the industry. Go with the best or leave the car NA.
