No, and yes. By coating/wrapping the pipes you are retaining more of the energy,i.e. heat, which is transferred to the turbine wheel of the turbocharger which is connected to the compressor section of the turbocharger which yields more power and efficiency from a given amount of fuel. We are also dropping underhood temps as well.

PLUS, 1600degrees is better than NO coating at all!!!
Not when it eventually flakes off inside and goes into your turbine and shells all the turbine blades out.

Good luck with it.

That's one of the big reasons why Swain Tech does not do any internal coating on exhaust parts...

Your sort of close with your answer but lets just use the equation.

PV=nRT

You want to keep as much of your pressure before the exhaust turbine as possible. It is this pulsed pressure that spools the turbine wheel. As you see from the equation as (T) goes down, (P) will also, and vise versa. So you want to keep your exhaust temps as hot as possible to keep the pressure working on the turbine wheel instead of being lost as heat.

Your answer was sort of right, but thought I would just add to it.

The only pic I have right now is the one as my Avatar. Nothing up close to show the manifold on the car. Sorry

I just got my downpipe back from Jet-Hot and they missed a couple spots where you can see silver. I called them today and complained. They said they'll issue a call tag to have it fixed and shipped at their expense. They'll be picking it up next week because my car is getting tuned monday and I'm not going to miss it because of their mistake.

I sent my manifold and turbo housing to HPC. They sent it back not this monday but last monday and for less frieght! The package was even heavier then the downpipe. Also I sent both parts the same day. Luckily I didn't send the Manifold and turbo housing to Jet hot because I would be rushing to get things back together this weekend. When I already have it back together because I got it back last week.

They both seem to be the same sort of coating but HPC did it faster and for less. Jet-hot wanted alot more money then HPC for the manifold and turbo housing and hpc wanted more for the downpipe then HPC so I sent the downpipe to JEt hot. Regardless I couldve sent the downpipe to HPC and had it done for about the same price HPC wanted. Jet hot charged me $39.00 just to ship it back when it cost me $15.00 to ship it to them.

I'll test with a thermo gun when I get it tuned and see what the temp difference are but there is going to be more heat on the manifold then the downpipe I'm assuming.

There really isn't any point in coating the DP. It is made of thinwall SS and it could cause it to crack easier.

My DP is made of thick SS. Same gauge as the SS exhaust cody made for the kit but it had to be modified to fit my car. Also the cosmetics makes it look better.
