Default turbo selection..

for my turbo project i really wanted to go with the T3/04E but after reading this
http://www.lovehorsepower.com/MR2_Docs/com...r_flow_maps.htm
and comparing compressor maps with my engine specs i decided to go with the T3/60-1.
i want to boost only 10 psi on stock cr and to use a log mani.
but i have only one question , which turbine a/r to take??
im afraid that the .63 would be too small and will spool fast(maybe 4000 rpm) but will chuck up top.
i want to go with .82 , i dont care if it spools at 4500 rpm i just dont want it to chuck and also chuck my engine..
im gonna use a 3" down pipe.
what so u guys think??

thank u.

i dont have a 60-1 but i do have a gt3076r with a .82 turbine. if i was you i would get the .82....my turbo spools very quickly even with the larger hotside. I am only running 8psi on a PFAB log manifold and can make 8psi @ 3800 in 3rd gear. You might want more power down the road so the .82 gives you some headroom for later too. The spool difference between the .63 and .82 is only like 300rpms.

Well, I am going to be in the same boat as you in the spring.. The T3 60-1 is bigger than the GT30R.. It is pretty much a non ball bearing version of the GT35R.. So if you go high boost you will prolly not see full spool until about 5400rpm or maybe a lil later. In my eyes that is great for the original characteristics of our cars.

i think that u have a mistake , thats sounds a little bit high ??5400rpm??
i believe that 5000rpm u should see 15 psi and up..
which manifold u gonna use?
u talk about the .63 or .82 turbine housing?
and about the size of the turbo it somewhere between the 3076 and the 35r.

Well I know that spec_ops is using a 35r with a log manifold and it spools at 5400 rpms something like 16-18psi with .82ar I will be using the Pfab log manifold

a 60-1 is not anything like a 35R. You are thinking of the SC61...that is a non bb 35R compressor. The 60-1 in my mind at least isnt that great of a turbo but seems to work really well with our engines because it can produce a lot of cfm at low pressure levels. Its not intended for real high boost but up to 20-22psi i bet it would be a good 550whp turbo. If you want 500 and no more why not get a GT3076r? a 30r will spool very quick and make good power too.

I agree, just in my case it would be more economical to get the 60-1(695) compared to the gt30r (1195)

The question you need to ask is, do you want to go for approx. 500rwhp? if so, then you will want the .82 ar From what I have heard about the differences in the 63 ar and 83 ar of the GT30R, is that the 63 ar is the way to go. The 63 ar will be better for a log manifold as far as spool is concerned due to the fact that the manifold is not as efficient as an equal length turbo manifold. To better find feedback search for threads about gt3076r ar's, that will give you some insight.
