Turbo selection for Ptuning kit
I'm really leaning towards putting my deposit down for a Ptuning kit very soon.
I currently have an Inline Pro stage 1 at 275 RWTQ, but I would really like to increase my TQ another 100 ft/lbs.
Right now I am really contemplating on what turbocharger to go with though...
Thoughts/help are appreciated guys.
My setup will include:
Laskey/Benson short block 9:1 compression with full built head.
91 octane only!
I do not plan on running meth, as I want to keep things as simple as possible.
What I'm looking for:
350-400 RWTQ at somewhere between 18-20 psi of boost.
The best possible spool up possible!!! 5500-6000 is not even close to being acceptable! This is not a drag car, this is going to be my street/hwy monster.
Turbo's I have been looking at:
(Please note all must be either Tial .63 or .82 housings on the hot side due to the Ptuning manifold)
35R
HTA3586R
6262
?

Isn't there going to be or already is a gt37r?
Although this has yet to be released from Garrett. Who knows when it will be also, it's all speculation at this time.
Even 350FTLB's will be hard on a 2.0L on pump, but you could buy a 2.2L crank and send the block back to Laskey.
*Edit* Just made 361FTlb's on pump tonight
My money is still on a 6262 but you will have to verify you can get a VBand housing.
The 68mm turbine on the 3582 is a bit large based on your spool requirements.
In addition I would try and stick with a 0.63 A/R if you can. Your topend will suffer a small bit but the extra spool is worth it.

I looked up the gtx series for myself and found the smallest one thats coming into producion the soonest is like a 42 series havent seen anything for a 35r, I could deff be wrong but havent heard any word of it. You know im looking to go 35r if I go ptuning which im leaning towards, personally forced performance makes some wicked turbos but I know people who have had serious longevity problems like major shaft play on a fp red after like 3K miles. Honestly 6262 is probably best for you as it spools faster then 35r but a 5857 pushed to the max may get you there aswell. Im going 35r if i go with ptuning

You have not been the first to tell me about FP HTA turbo problems...

The 40XX GTX came out last year. The smaller 35 and 30 are "rumored" to be coming out the end of this year.
