Default Turbo upgrades for the greddy kit?

So I was talking to some of my friends that own evos about what kind
of turbo kit I should go with on my S. I am trying to decide between the greddy and full race gt30 kit. They were telling me that I should switch the turbo from the greddy kit to a fp red, green, or a bbk turbo since they are essentially modified stock Evo turbos. Just wondering If this is a possibility with the kit?

can't upgrade to those listed turbos on your greddy kit due to the flanges, depending on which fp red you get (evo or subaru). Just get the full race kit if you're contemplating between the two. It's like comparing a water gun to a water hose when it comes to turbo kits

It really depends for him though if he's looking to stay carb legal or not. The full-race would be a problem for him if he was. The GT30 greddy upgrade is good for those of us looking to pass smog and get decent power in Cali.

Do a search, there's a ton of information on the turbo upgrade.

I suppose, but I figured for anyone doing such a drastic upgrade as a turbo kit, they would still have to go through a lot of hassle either way. They do have gt30r upgrades for the greddy kit, but they're not really as "bolt-on" as "bolt-on" should be.

I disagree. I purchased a greddy kit without the turbo and also purchased a GT3071R with a T25 flange. It fit fine, it's just a tight squeeze into the engine bay. It bolts up to the stock greddy downpipe and the manifold with no problems whatsoever. I'm just waiting to fabricate my 3" downpipe and high flow cat to get a tune. I'm hoping to be in the 330rwhp-350rwhp range when all is said and done.

As long as there is a CARB stamp or sticker on it somewhere, you can usually get away with it.

CARB isn't really about air quality anyway, it's about the tens of thousands of dollars companies have to spend to get that CARB EO#.

Was that gt3071R already modified for the greddy kit? or is an off-the-shelf gt3071 with just a t25 flange?
