I don't know if that's anyone here, but assuming it's NOT, you really need to explain those statements. What is more complicated about a ball bearing turbocharger? Precision comes Oil Cooled only, so no water lines, Turbonetics you can order either way, Large frame Garretts are Oil cooled only, and the smaller stuff you can simply choose not to run the lines. So assuming you take water cooling out of the equation, what is "simpler" or "easier" about a turbocharger that requires less oil and is far more reliable, thus requiring less maintenance/replacements/repairs/rebuilds? They all require gravity oil return lines, so placement doesn't change, they are the same size...where do these comments come from?

I agree with you 100%. The $$ isn't really the deciding factor for me as I am building the kit over the course of the winter, but, it's certainly always in the back of my mind.

I did not know that the larger framed BB turbos came solely oil cooled, good to know.

My statements were based on running the coolant lines alone, not that it's a huge deal, but it is certainly less to worry about imo and I think the whole setup overall looks a bit cleaner with less lines, but hey that's just me.

The reliability differences between the 2 hadn't been something I was thinking about, glad you brought it up. Although it seems "easier" to begin with, downtime for turbo repairs sucks, went through that too many times with PTE stuff in the past.

I was quoted $789 for the JB 6162 and $1189 on the ceramic BB so we're looking at a 400$ difference, again, not a deal breaker but still a just about a 50% increase in price.

simplifies everything because you dont have to worry about running cooling lines, its not a big deal i ran a 30r on my old set up, its just a little more work to do

Not all BB turbos require you to run coolant lines, Real St posted a breakdown above.

Customer service is going to be mainly done through the reseller, unless you have a warranty issue. Turbonetics is about on par with the other turbo manufacturers. Just go with a retailer that's been around for a while and has good service. PM me if you want to do some comparison shopping

I´ve used Turbonetics for 12 years now and love them, best turbo out there in my opinion. Both PTE and Garrett have failed me but never Turbonetics.
I bet you can find a faster spooling and more high tech turbo but not a better in quality, and they look damn good.

I made 542whp on 93 pump and 20psi, 360 bearing and no water cooling.

Oh, if you buy a Turbonetics BB you get a restrictor mounted on the turbo, not something they "forget" to tell you like other brands.

Nice to know because I'm thinking about getting the turbonetics gtk500 this year since I have a t3/t4 turbonetics atm. Just not sure if it'll fit on my log manifold and clearance with the battery n fuse box. I made 320 on 8.5 lbs and then my clutch started slipping in the dyno... Fail lol so I'm upgrading after winter and getting it tuned again.

Great to know man, I'm actually pleasantly surprised with all the good words already.

What turbo did you make those numbers with?
