Default two fuel tanks

ive been doing some thinking about puting a 2nd tank(fuel cell) in the trunk and runing a barrel style fuel valve to swatch back and foreward between tanks.

my thinking behind this is that it would make it possible to have e-85 in the fuel cell and still retain a tank for pump gas that way when you are just daily driving around or doing a road trip where e85 is unavailable you can switch to pump gas. now ive also thought about turning off one of the fuel pumps while running the other

a few ?'s

- for the fuel pressure regulator would i be able to run the same fuel pressure regulator with pump and id2000 and with e85 and id2000 (the idea is to be able to switch fuels without taking anything apart)
- would anyone know of a valve that also works as a switch?

any other thoughts will be fully considered

This is something Ive thought of doing many times and will be doing in the future Ive already thought it through.

However my plan just involves running two totally seprate fuel setups. New lines, new rail, new injectors , new pumps new fuel filter. Would be more costly for sure but would be pretty baller lol.

Would be awesome, but why not just run an ethanol sensor like the flexfuel cars. GM's sensor should be fairly simple to hook up and make work with an ems or maybe a haltech. It shouldn't be that hard to set up and you could elmininate all that extra plumbing if your only running E85. If you wanna run race gas then I guess an extra fuel cell would have to be used. It might be a little complicated getting the tune just right to adjust for all the different mixtures, but i'm sure any competent tuner can make it happen.

Depends on what you want it for. If you're doing real racing or competition, you wouldn't necessarily want the extra weight. And you might have a trailer where you don't need to swap gas out.

At a race track, you'll go through enough tanks of gas that you'd have to bring jugs of extra fuel anyway (especially E85).

So you could swap out for pump and change maps.

You could have a valve in the fuel rail to pump out the remaining type of fuel.

The actual application of this seems a little odd.

What kind of events were you planning on doing with this? 1/4 mile?

well for me i would want the pump fuel for road trips. Im constantly hearing people say they don't want to run e85 because there is no stations around. At the same time when im back in my home town id like to be able to run e85. as for the extra wight on track days you could just run one of the tanks dry on the road and switch to the other and you would have 1 completely empty tank

as for the sensor im already planing on runing the ecs(ivtec) and a sidewinder gt35r aem and boost by gear. tuner is going to hate me enuff

also i dont think its practical to mix a tank of gas and expect a sensor to manage timing and all that stuff under boost this sounds way safer to me

and for drainign the system i would just install a 3 way valve one side open and drain it there

Haltech is releasing the ethanol sensor with adaptive map for ethanol content.
