UPDATE:Vortech SC Grinding Much Worse Than Normal
I know about the normal noises of the Vortech SC, but tonight my car started making abnormal noises. When I get past 3.5k RPM and let off the gas, I notice a very loud grinding/rattling...sounds like sticking your tongue in a fan. I popped the hood and it's definitely coming from the SC. It has been ticking when the engine is fully warmed up for a little while, but I've been told it's normal.
Please help a brother out!!! If I gotta come up with a couple $k for my car my wife will probably cut my pecker off!

The SC was on my car when i bought it. I believe it was installed less than three years ago, but I'm not quite sure. I tried to get the paperwork for the damn thing when i bought it, but got nowhere.
And thanks for offering your pecker, Kyle, but I think you need to get your priorities straight.

Call Vortech and they will advise you on sending it in for diagnosis. Mine went up in volume and it was a frozen bearing. I only put a few miles on it so no damage was done. Be prepared to pay.

I'm planning on pulling it off this weekend. What else do I need to do in order to run the car NA for a while? I know I'll need to hook up the air filter and whatnot, but what about the Vortech black box...or whatever.

The black box shouldn't be a problem.
You need to cap off the oil supply to the supercharger.
You need to get the original bolt/washer to attach the idler pulley for the factory belt.
The big breather hose can be left to vent openly.
You need to block off the unused vacuum lines.
You need to get up 15 minutes earlier to get to work.
Now is a good time to order that new smaller pulley.

Call Vortech with the SN. If the guy who had it before registered the warranty, they'll have it on file. You'll need an rma # to return it to them for service.
I believe their rebuild charge is 400 or 450 bucks plus shipping. They can turn it around and back to you in a week if you want to pay fast fgt.
