i hav been thinking of doing this as well. be crazy hot out this summer, and car runs around 205-210 with ac on in bumper to bumper traffic. i read the stock thermo is full open at 194ish. i figure if i get a lower tstat that is full open sooner might keep the car cooler, or atleast take longer to heat soak.

No it doesn't. By opening the thermo earlier, you are giving the cooling system the opprotunity to cool the fluid before it climbs to the level where the stock thermo would open. Not saying it prevents the temp from climbing, moreso that it delays it.

^listen:
if the car is getting to 205, its because its hot and thats what the rad and fans can equal out the cooling/heating capacity at.

if the thermo opened at 140', it would sill get to 205 because its just that hot.

think about it!

also spectacle-
why would you buy a mugen fan switch if the standalone tells your fans when to come on????? lol its pointless.

thats why i put just slows temp rise to 205ish.

tech the fan switch controls the main fan, but with a stand alone you can change that.

oh well, its friggin hot out, maybe it is time for a bigger radiator.
